TV Movie to be released to DVD in North America!

Hmm... dead father lives on in crystals to give the son advice as he travels far from home... why does that sound familiar? :p

Excellent news. I wonder what kind of special features there will be. Any chance of a commentary track with McGann, Ashbrook, and Roberts?

It's the same thing that's in the Revisitations box set that comes out in October UK. The audio is spedup 4% so everyone sounds like they're on helium and all but one of the spots where the commercials would go are badly edited out to make it more like a seamless movie instead of the TV movie of the week it actually was.

Oh yes, in a perfect world that would be awesome. Sadly, I doubt it.

Have any details been revealed about the upcoming UK release regarding the new extras and commentary? Since the N.A. release is supposed to be the same, it'll give us a hint as to what we can expect.

It's the version from the Revisitation box set that coming out in the UK in October. Basically it's the same edit of the movie from the original 2001 R2 release with new extras.

Extras are:

An new commentary featuring Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann

The Seven Year Hitch, looking at the seven year quest to get this story made

The Wilderness Years, looking at how the show was kept alive during the hiatus between the end of Series 26 and the TV Movie

Who Peter 1989-2009, the final part of the documentary looking at the special link between the two programmes Doctor Who and Blue Peter

Stripped for Action, the eighth Doctor in Comic Strip

Tomorrows Times, how the short reign of the Eighth Doctor was reported by the press at the time.

A funny thought just occurred to me: now that the TV Movie is finally coming out on DVD in the U.S., how long d'you think it'll be before fans start whinging about having it out on Blu-Ray? :p

Awesome news. The wife and I have only recently begun our adventures into Who-dom, starting with Eccleston, and we've been picking up classic Who here and there. Thought for sure we would have to find this one by "other means".

Forget North America (as if that little backwater is in any way important!), what about the place that really matters - when is it coming out in Australia?

Eh, I caved and bought the R2 release two years ago now... and then a region-free DVD player to go with it!

^
Yeah, I can imagine.

McG: "So, Sylv, you worked since?"
McC: "You've got nothing to be cheeky about, you Scouse get; you've hardly set the world alight."
*awkward silence*
McC: "I must say, it was nice to be able to film a decent regeneration. Especially remembering poor Colin."
*awkward silence*
McC: "Sorry, I didn't mean..."

Has anyone ever wondered whether they stuck that motorbike chase in after hearing Pertwee had died? A bit Planet of the Spiders, like.

Joking aside, the McCoy/McGann commentary sounded like it'd be great. Right up until I heard it would be moderated by Nick Briggs.

So buying this one when it comes out!! I hope they include tons and tons of extras and things we have not seen before, andyone know what the feature list is on this??
