Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with that part either. I can just imagine him jumping in at every lull so as not to have much silence. On the other hand, I don't imagine McCoy will have much to comment on once Seven regenerates.

Fantastic list of extras! I especially can't wait to listen to the McGann/McCoy commentary. I'm surprised by the dislike for Briggs. I've always enjoyed his interviews for the Big Finish audio plays.
Me too. I think his incredibly faithful renditions of the dalek voices are one of the very best things about the revived series, and as far as his work on Big Finish he has proven himself a very competent director, producer and, especially, writer (I love his Dalek Empire series). Why all the hate?
Watch some of the older dalek stories. Notice how not every dalek has his voice.
You're right, there are several stories of the classic series where their voices are awful.
Day of the Daleks springs to mind.
However, most of the others were well done. Roy Skelton, Peter Hawkins, David Graham and Michael Wisher did a fine job.
I think Nick Briggs does a pretty good analogue/amalgam of those 4, and he particularly sounds like Roy Skelton.

It's not hate, as far as I'm concerned. I think Briggs' voicework on the show, particularly the Daleks (I find the Cyberman often difficult to understand), to be excellent, and his tenure at Big Finish has been very successful. Children of Earth even showed us he's a competent actor. I think it may be just that people were expecting a nice, intimate commentary with McGann & McCoy...and then they read "moderated by Nicholas Briggs". What exactly does that mean, and why is it necessary? It's almost like an intrusion!
Well, supposedly, a moderator is used to keep the conversation topical and to keep things moving. I know in practice that doesn't always bear out that way, but generally I have found Briggs moderating to be fine..
I couldn't believe this news. I thought Universal would never give way to the BBC over this. Glad to see it finally available everywhere on DVD.

That was really good. I must have seen the YouTube version before because I sure don't remember that Oasis song (which I'd never heard before and now must investigate further on iTunes). Definitely makes all the difference.
Thanks! I tried a few times over the months, to put it on YouTube but they took away the sound each time. Kind of disappointing, because I edited it in time to the Oasis track and even threw in some DW audio samples like the TARDIS. You might find this version isn't on iTunes.
I remixed it slightly, adding a ticking clock throughout, extending the guitar solo and the reprise at the end. Removing the John Lennon interview audio sample to make it less about him and more about the Doctor going to Hollywood.
It takes the best of the single version with some bits from a B-side remix.

That crept in somewhere along the line, while I was working on it. Originally I placed the ticking clock in the rear surround, but had to squash everything back to L/R for online. I can't wait to see the extras they've put together about the film. Hopefully they'll go easy on it in the documentary, even if it's mostly style over substance.

I think it might have at least helped if they'd added Daphne Ashbrook to the mix. As is, they may need a moderator depending upon how much chemistry McCoy & McGann have on their own. Sometimes, certain casts don't need any moderation because they constantly jabber on like a bunch of drunken frat boys. (SEE the full cast Red Dwarf commentaries.)
One moment that stuck out in that regard was the moment Eight banged open the door in the morgue along with the beat in the song. Well done.
I've seen them together on a convention panel, and they're great. They're old friends off-camera, so I'm sure that helps.
