Any fans of these two movies here?
I bought the movies the other day. I thought they were pretty good. Not a bad way to kill four hours.
Pitch Black obviously was influenced by the first Alien movie. The monsters were actually the least interesting part of the movie for me. Vin Diesel was pretty good as the criminal Riddick, and I liked how the group was forced to depend on Riddick because of his see in the dark eyes. Most of the movie is about the survivors being picked off one by one by the monsters. It had a really great ending though, I was actually surprised by who made it at the end.
Chronicles of Riddick feels like an entirely different movie. It feels much bigger. It's Sci-Fi action, which made me like it a little more than the first movie, and even Riddick gets to be a Chosen One. The Necromongers felt like the Borg to me and it was a fun seeing Riddick take down legions of them without much trouble. I still don't know what they wanted, something about finding another universe. I was really surprised to see the future Dr McCoy, Karl Urban, in this. It also had another great twist ending, with Riddick sitting there in the chair. The only real problem I had with it was that they really crammed so much plot into it. This movie felt like the third movie of a trilogy!
I have no clue how they are going to do the next one. But I'm looking forward it seeing it.
