My favorite is the guy dressed like Apollo from Who Mourns for Adonais. To put it mildly, he doesn’t have the body for it.

Yeah, I was there, and that was an interesting choice, to say the least.

I was just out of the second shot, in front of the group of Klingons, taking notes when these were snapped.

The cutest thing was a 5-year-old dressed as Spock, with ears and everything.

The most creative costume was a guy in a scooter dressed as a Horta. I didn't know what it was at first, but a hand-written "NO KILL I" sign tacked on front gave it away.

5 rows from the back in the 3rd picture...a guy in a skant? How did I miss that?

And I remember there being more green-skinned women there...

On second look I notice the variety of costumes. Every incarnation of Star Trek seems to be represented, with one exception... where are the pajamas from TMP?

I'm pretty sure I saw them there. I'm still amazed at how detailed many of the costumes were.

And then someone made a crack about Shatner, and is so often the case with Star Trek fandom victory soon turned to hurt feelings and massive bloodshed.

Actually it's a very cool set of photos.

I think that most anybody can find a costume that is appropriate to their body type...but that was certainly not a good match.

I would've suggested Tellarite myself: he had the beard (which I bet took a LONG time to grow), and I know one of the robes was auctioned off and photo references could've been used to make a pretty realistic outfit.

Klingon might've been another good choice...or Cardassian legate IF he was willing to shave.

^^^Klingon armor can certainly hide a lot of sins. The great thing about Trek is that there's really something for every body type. Once you've seen a Horta, you realize there's really no limit.

And seeing the TOS mini-skirt uniforms in person really makes you realize how incredibly flattering they are. Those are great designs.

I'm not even thinking of "hiding sins"--I'm thinking of the fact that it would actually be canon, in a sense; we've seen some portly Klingon warriors and it would look "correct" from a fan perspective. (Which is what I thought when a stocky guy came to a con I attended as a Klingon warrior; it seemed suitable.)

Oh...and my favorite in that photo is the Vulcan in traditional clothes.

Man, I've never done anything like this before, but someday I think I'm going to. What a blast this must have been. Now, to decide which era suits me the most... if I post a picture, would anyone be so kind as to recommend a uniform type they feel best suits my features? I would be quite grateful. I'm pretty much the anti-Garak when it comes to fashion sense and I'd love to show up in style.

If this winds up considered solicitation somehow, fair enough. I'm just concerned I'd show up totally improper-like.
