Your favourite SF weapons and devices...

Green Lantern power ring. Keep your Death Stars, this is the ultimate power in the universe.
Hmm... Paint anything I have yellow and GL the ring is neutralized.
Okay, old school. Paint it yellow and make it out of wood. When I use the ring to fire a BB or moderately-sized asteroid (which ever is appropriate) at a significant fraction of c at it, you'll have a lot of yellow wooden bits to pick up. :techman:

^^ Good enough.

The Stargate. Yeah, wormholes used for travel are old hat in SF, particularly SF lit and usually for spacecraft, but the Stargate SG-1 stargate was a cool idea as an interstellar transit network. And it made space adventure seem fresh again without the usual reliance on starships...although they had those too.

Lightsaber
Sonic Screwdriver
M41A Pulse Rifle
The Arisian Lens
Liberator's single-function isomorphic response weapon
Lawgiver
Those spherical clockwork Midkemian travel devices whose actual name I forget

Props to the Sandman Gun.

How 'bout the (Skorpions?), the fighters in Space: Above and Beyond?

And let's not forget that old classic, the Klingon Bird of Prey! Elegant, menacing and deadly all in one package.

And GL is toast. Nice!

The Science Fiction Museum in Seattle actually has an entire wall of futuristic weapons from old movies and tv shows. They even have Barbarella's crossbow!

Scarlett's laser-targeted, rocket-arrow firing crossbow from Rise of Cobra was pretty sweet too.

and, fuckit, the Delta-6 accelerator suit. okay, so the WM suit had more guns and could fly, but the D-6 was sleeker and gave you super-running speed and strength...

The ID shuttle from Earth Final Conflict. Also the ID transporter from EFC.

The batmobile from the Adam West Batman series.

The tumbler from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Also the batpod from The Dark Knight.

The starfury's from Babylon 5.

can't believe no one has said the holo-deck from TNG

gimme a replicator and a holo-deck and I'm good to go.

Batmobile from Tim Burton's "Batman". The Holodeck. Lightsaber. Phased Plasma Gun (from Babylon 5). Jaffa rail guns. Bruce Wayne's cray computer in the cave. Legion of Superheroes Flight Ring. Green Lantern Power Ring. The Stargate. Food Replicator. I could pretty much go on and on.

Bolt, chord, and sphere from Anathem. I wouldn't use them like the avout, but I could come up with dozens of uses for newmatter in these form factors. And while I have Stephenson in mind, I want one of those portable horses from The Diamond Age, too.

I forgot to mention the sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who! I still need to read the "Anathem" it's been on my reading list since it came out.
