DS9 and iTunes Store

Those of us in the UK only have seasons 1-3, and those are horrendously overpriced compared to the US rates. Seasons 2 and 3 cost £49.14 each, which works out to $77.13 a time against the $12.99 you guys pay...:wtf:

Ah, pure capitalism at work!

Yes, the relative inexpensiveness of the DVD releases do make iTunes prices appear fairly greedy in comparison. If you're looking to view your episodes on iPod/iPhone etc., there's plenty of excellent freeware available to do the job. Perfectly legitimate for your own use once you've purchased the boxsets IMHO.

At that price differential, I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't just buy the boxed sets. the boxed sets are fairly reasonable in price now.

Does anybody know what happened that makes us unable to purchase the entire Season 5? I wanted to be able to purchase the entire season as it had the largest concentration of episodes in one season that I wanted to buy to watch on my iPhone but as soon as I was going to purchase it, they stopped selling it as a season and right now it is currently by episode-only. I contacted iTunes but they provided virtually no information. Reading some of the reviews on iTunes, it sounds like there might have been some technical issues with some of the episodes but it seems like it's been awhile and they still haven't changed it back to being able to purchase it by season. Also, they seem to be stalled in general on releasing Star Trek episodes on iTunes and, all love for DS9 aside for a moment, where the hell is TNG on iTunes???? I would think that that would be a big seller. I want a bunch of individual episodes of TNG but don't feel particularly motivated to buy entire seasons of it.

I don't know the answer, but wondered- did anyone notice that perhaps some episodes are not complete?

Double episodes often had scenes trimmed in order to accommodate the credits for the second episode in syndication. This is probably the reason this scene is missing, although that is NOT COOL.

When Season 5 was first added, the entire season was available, although "By Inferno's Light" was mis-labeled as "By Shadow's Light." Probably a confusion on their part with the previous episode, "In Purgatory's Shadow." Anyhow, I bought the season and watched it. Since then, two episodes, "Trials and Tribble-ataions" and "Soldiers of the Empire" have gone missing. I didn't notice anything wrong with either of them, although I wasn't paying THAT close attention. In general, the video quality isn't great, looks like a poor transfer on the entire season.

"Star Trek" on iTunes has been an odd beast. For the longest time, they just didn't seem to give a flip. Then, for a few months, it seemed a high priority. They quickly added a couple more seasons of Voyager, and up to season 5 of DS9. TOS & ENT are both available in their entirety. Then, for the past several months, no new additions. Idunno if this is Apple or Paramount/CBS, but someone's really mis-handling this.

Missing currently are:
DS9, Seasons 6 - 7
VOY, Seasons 4 - 7
TNG, Complete
TAS, Complete (If you care)

If you are a fellow iTunes video user, feel free to post a request to Apple, at http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html It probably does more good than complaining about it in a product review. (That can't hurt either.)
