Peter Butterworth does a good job with The Monk imo. Shame he was only used once more (in The Dalek's Masterplan.
Still, I guess the character was a bit of a dead-end, story wise. He's not as compelling as say The Rani or The Master really. He's more of an annoyance than a genuine threat - his charm came as a light comic releif type character, for which Butterworth was eminently suited.
I can see that, but then again, who is to say that causing havok isn't in the Meddling monk's future as a regenerated villain, I mean he was marooned on Earth afterall, so would it not be a compelling scenario to have him want revenge? This to me would be even more of a story because he wasn't evil to begin with.. he was made into a villain by the Doctor, who probably forgot to set him free..
and here is the cool part about the meddling monk, he truly believes his self righteous time meddling is the right way, and so with that as a belief, anything the doctor does is hindering his righteous work, that to me seems more dangerous then actually doing it for power or greed..a sense of misguided piety or manifest destiny...
anyways, I am watching
"the Keys to Marinus" now . I will update you guys after I see it, but thus far, I am half way into the 2nd episode, and man, what a fantastic story!!!

that one is going to be a five thumbs up for sure!
I tried to watch the
abominable snowmen, and
evil of the Daleks with the 2nd doctor, and to my dismay, it was the ones erased by the BBC.. what a freaking shame!! those looked like awesome episodes,
I am sooo angry..
what episodes were just stock footage, anyone know so I can be warned what not to search for?
