"As the world's energy supplies dwindle, the Orpheus, a research submarine, delves into the deep of the Arctic Ocean searching for rare micro-organisms, but the crew soon find themselves in peril."

Couldn't see a thread about this. It looks rather good.

Hmmm, reading the synopsis on the Tiger Aspect site it looks like it may venture off into horror/sci-fi territory, or at least circle that general area.

Looks interesting anyway, the Beeb are getting very good at this sort of glossy high budget action/drama so i'll definitely check it out.

im guessing its meant to be the new Torchwood: Children of Earth, im not convinced yet, but im going to give it a shot.

I don't think it'll be anything like it. The cast are top drawer for a start.

I meant to start a thread about this but I started 2 this morning already, so decided not to spam up the place with more threads.

I'll definitely be watching, it sounded vaguely sci-fi/horror-ish from the synopsis I read a while back and that piqued my interested. Trying to not get my expectations too high because I don't want to expect too much but the Beeb have done some decent stuff lately so I'm hoping for the best.

I've still to see the last 2 eps, since other things were happening those two weeks. I expect they'll re-run it on Beeb 3 some time. The episodes I saw were very good and I think it did push the envelope of the genre, which very rarely happens. However I'm such a Idris Elba fan that my judgement might be a bit biased.

Took me a while but I eventually caught up on it. Was decent enough and I'll probably check out a second series if there is one. Apparently Idris Elba is keen on a second run.

I think I will stick with it, but probably end up watching it on I player at the weekends.
Loved how they gave their chief engineer a emotional distressing video to watch just as they got to a vital stage of the mission.
Did not think much of the actors who played Maddy and Vincent, I'm also not buying Minnie Driver in the captain role.

I thought it was good. A fairly entertaining engaging hour of drama. The set up and mystery is good. Looks like a very human problem so far - but I'm thinking there is still scifi realm possibilities to it all.

Was I the only one glad to see that really annoying one murdered at the end? I swear, I don't normally take ire at fictional characters but that perpetual whine of a voice would drive me to murder too.

It looks fun - Minnie Driver actually made a pretty convincing captain I thought. However, the inexplicably young supporting crew were a bit silly - it's as if the dividing line on who lives and dies is going to be set by whether they are under or over 30!

SPECULATION & SPOILERS

Is it just me or does anybody else think Goran Visnjic's character murdered the girl because she tipped him off that she knew about his affair? I only wonder because they laboured on the point when Driver tells him that Nesbitt's character was the only other person who heard her confession about it later in the episode. If Nesbitt inexplicably ends up in peril in the next few episodes I'll feel more confident about the hypothesis.

As for the sci fi plot - looks intriguing!
