I didn't catch the last episode but this show seems really undercooked to me. Like they just put the barest elements of character and premise out there for consumption. It's like it just is.

Undercooked is a good term. Reminds me of SyFy's other show Painkiller Jane in that sense.

At this point, they desperately need a zombie attack story.

I've already dumped the show. I watched part of the second one just to see Mr. Gauntface(McHattie or something like that), but it was pretty lame so I did something else.

Oy, that was boring! This canned FOTW format is really killing the show. The only elements I give a flip about are the teeny glimpses of emerging mythology - Audrey's search for her mom, the reasons why Nathan and Duke hate each other (the fight scene was fun, even if it did also seem like a duel of bad acting), and the threat that "the troubles" might re-emerge. Fortunately I have my zapper to help get thru the rest. It's amazing how easy it is to follow the stories while fast-forwarding three quarters of it. :rommie:

The fact that I can follow a story on ff proves this show is too thin (and predictable). It needs to be building up its "density" much more quickly. We need more of a sense that the town is crammed with people with nutty abilities or the potential to have nutty abilities, that might break out at any moment. They can't just be people who manifest abilities and then sail away out of the story forever.

There needs to be more threatening characters - the cat lady, the town drunk, the recluse with something nasty buried in the cellar - all of whom are supernaturally dangerous or could be. Deputy Dull should know all about those folks and be warning Audrey about them.

Duke shouldn't just be a genial smuggler, but someone who could - or who has - killed people in the past. Maybe he killed someone who in retrospect was one of those dangerous, supernatural folks, which is why local law enforcement covered it up and continues to tolerate him. If Duke felt like he was surrounded by freaks, it would either be kill to survive or scram, and he doesn't seem like the scramming sort.

Generally, the show needs to jettison the cutesy-poo approach and start building up some serious existential dread.

I'm still watching. I like the New England ambiance and I mostly like the characters-- although I realized that Audrey reminds me a bit of Shannon from Lost. What the hell, I'll stick it out through the first Season to see how things develop.

^ Someone on another board mistook her for Elisha Cuthbert.

Looks like the rumor of this being the second episode is wrong. You could say this episode was a million times better than the last one, but a million times zero is still zero. :p

Still taking concepts that aren't good enough for an hour-long episode and not really putting an effort into fleshing them out. Also the lobster guy might be the worst actor I've seen cast in a fairly sizable role on a primetime TV show.

Ugh. Eric Balfour...SHOWKILLA! I think the only show he didn't kill off was 24 probably because they wisely dumped him after season one.

^^ I like him. In fact, I pretty much like all the actors; for the locals, they've cast all actors who are very believable as Mainers. The two newspaper guys are great. The weakest link is Audrey, and I don't really dislike her (she does kind of look like Elisha Cuthbert, too).

Unfortunately, the plots are very repetitive. I'm happy with a low-key show and I'm generally in no hurry, but the stories have left me with a general feeling of dissatisfaction. Which is a shame, because I want to like the show more.

The only reason to keep watching is to learn the mystery at the heart of the show. I think I'll just read up on it after the show is over. 5 minutes of reading and I'll save myself 10 hours of time-wasting.

I would think the FBI would come down hard on Audrey after she let a lady who controls the weather leave town after killing someone, after she let someone who can bring catatonic people back into reality with his music (and weapons-wise, can make sane people go crazy with it) go on a boat, and after she let someone who can turn food he's eating bad (which means he can be a weapon too) walk away. :)

Unless they're secretly capturing all of them after Audrey lets them go.

I have been watching every episode but my attention must have faltered during one of them, what happened to the Police chief?

Also, they make a big deal about the newspaper article with the picture of her mother and something about a murder, but have yet to actually fill the audience in on the details of the crime?!?! They could at least let us know what the article says.

I really like this show, watched all eps so far. I started watching it because it looked interesting and because summer television SUCKS. But, I really enjoy it; the dynamic of the characters, the cases and I'm of course curious about what's up with her mom and that case, etc.

And, If I wasn't pregnant and still struggling with nausea, "Consumed" probably wouldn't have made me nauseous a few times.

He's only appeared in two episodes, but he's listed as part of the main cast credits (all four of them).

Phew, I thought I must have missed something. So much rides on this "Colorado Kid" stuff but none of it has been outlined yet, other than that there was a murder years ago. Yeah they're doing it wrong.

Young men in Haven start aging at an accelerated rate, and Audrey and Nathan attempt to find the source.

This is the episode where something paranormal happens, the cops are quick to accept the paranormal reason but take their sweet time to work the case, they let the superpowered perpetrator walk away at the end without punishment and no secret government agency shows up to exploit the superpowered person.

That's how they handle things in Maine. Ayuh.

Anybody know anything about the ratings so far?
