If it was it wouldn't have been coupled with the flicker of camera's after every swing. At the very least, there was interest in Cleavland baseball fans. Well see if that same interest extends to Tampa tonight (I'm going to guess yes, since Tampa is a Yankees stronghold)
Speaking of Tampa, anyone catch the bat - as in, winged bat - flying around inside Tropicana Field? 
Looks like the Cubs can be good for what ails a team that's struggling offensively. In the 8th inning in Denver, the Rockies brought 18 men to the plate - 14 with 2 outs, scored 12 runs, and strung together 11 consecutive hits.

Kidding aside, that was a scary moment when the bat shard went flying into the stands and injured a spectator. MLB looks like they're waiting for someone to get killed before banning maple bats.

What a finish in the Giants game today. Burrell with the clutch HR that I won't soon forget and I was listening on the radio and AT&T was absolutely jumping. Who honestly would have thought the Giants would be this clutch after years of just not showing anything. Is this one of the best months the Giants have had in the last Decade at least?

Calling them "Tampa" is like calling the Yankmes "New". The preliminary posturing is just under way. I don't expect any serious progress for another year or two.
Pat Burrell mailed it in for more than a year with the Rays. Screw him. Not that I have anything against the Giants. As a Florida State grad, I'm delighted with Buster Posey's success!

The Callaspo for O'Sullivan / Smith trade doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but dumping Podsednik for a backup catcher and a lottery ticket works, as Kansas City would have received nothing for holding on to him, and some combination of Lucas May/Brayan Pena/Wil Myers will probably work out pretty well at catcher after they wheel Jason Kendall's corpse out after next year.
Their last trade, though, was fantastic and they raped the shit out of Frank Wren and the Braves on that one. Tim Collins owns, Farnsworth's contract is way too expensive for the Royals to exercise next year (and counting on another primo year from him is pretty risky), and going from Ankiel to Blanco is hardly a downgrade. Essentially, they unloaded two players who weren't going to be with the team next year and acquired their younger, cost-controlled equivalents plus a fantastic relief prospect.
You want a team that shit the bed at the deadline, look at the Dodgers. I mean, we've known for a while that Ned Colletti is either a spy under deep cover who's doing his best to destroy the team from within, or he has some developmental issues that may prevent him from achieving at the same level as his peers and should be placed in remedial classes immediately, but they completely fucked the dog and became buyers when they should have been sellers. In the process, Colletti added four players who don't provide a whole lot other than Ted Lilly (Lambo / MacDonald for Dotel?
) and paid $3 million for the privilege to play them while also losing prospects -- not incredibly valuable ones, but still prospects in a dry system. That $3 million also guarantees the Dodgers won't sign first-round pick Zach Lee.

Yeah, I mentioned that, and then I heard the stat and was kind of grinned. I didn't even know before hand.
I'm glad they went more for Bullpen help than a big bat though. I heard through Twitter that the Giants still have a possibility to get Dunn through waivers, but they needed pitching and got two of them to help solidify the bullpen for a bit. This is going to be a real fun 2 months down the stretch.
Jesse Chavez blows. Don't know what the Royals see in him. The other guys are good though. I was being overly dramatic.
The Rays big move was acquiring Qualls for a bullpen that was already loaded while the know it alls were screaming for another big bat, like Lance Berkman. Berkman is on the downhill side of his career and the Rays pitchers made him look very old and his attempt to play 1st base was nothing short of unspectacular. And Qualls, he came in in the 8th and got a double play in his first appearance. Rays took 2 of 3 from the Yankmes in front of three sellouts. Not a bad weekend!
