Family Guy Star Wars Saga Continues

Haven't seen this mentioned. It was announced last week at ComicCon that the third installment of the Family Guy Star Wars Saga "It's a Trap", (their parody of "Return of the Jedi") will be released this December. Available on DVD and BlueRay.

I really enjoyed "Blue Harvest" and "Something, something, Dark Side", and look forward to 3rd and final installment of the Star Wars parodies. They've made it clear that they have no plans to parody the prequel trilogy, and are looking for another franchise to rip on. Seth MacFarlane apparently favors doing the Indiana Jones movies, but hasn't committed to anything yet.

So what franchise would you like to see them parody next? And keep in mind that everyone in MacFarlane's creative circle are all geeks and/or sf fen, so it's likely they'll opt on something genre. Besides, outside of "The Godfather" and a few others, how many n0on-genre "franchises" are there? It seems that with few exceptions, most franchises are SF&F, horror, or spy/detective thrillers.

Personally, I'd love to see them parody LOTR or the "Alien" or "Terminator" franchises.

You?

I really can't think of any movie franchise that would be as familiar and iconic to me that would work well (other than Trek, but that won't happen), but I'm sure they'll come up with something good.

I saw the Indiana Jones movies when they came out, but they are not something that I've watched over and over like the original Star Wars trilogy. I'd be pretty out of the loop with most of the jokes.

So they changed the tentative title from "I've Got A Bad Feeling About This" to "It's a Trap" interesting. There was supposed to be clips from it as well during the panel. I'm looking forward to this. I thought "Something, Something, Something Dark Side Guy" was okay but not as strong as "Blue Harvest". As for spoofing more epic trilogies or well known films the one other than "Indiana Jones" and "Star Trek" that comes to mind is "The Matrix". It's not a movie that has been referenced a lot if at all on "Family Guy" but it something that I'd love to see get spoofed. Chris as Neo. Brian as Morpheus. Stewie as Agent Smith. Meg as Trinity (just to amp up the incest jokes) Joe could be Cypher. Cleveland could be the Oracle, etc.

Is anyone ever going to get tired of endless parodies, satires and witty mockings of classic sci-fi? Evidently not.

The problem with Indiana Jones and some of them is finding roles for all the characters. The Star Wars movies work well because we are so familiar with all the little sideline characters and lines of dialogue and everything. I mean, I even immediately got the Purina logo gag.

No one's gotten tired of them yet and they've been going on for decades. Though I can see why some people would tire of Seth McFarlane's mockeries. There are enough people who just dislike the man and his humor to dislike anything connected to him.

I'd love to see them do the Prequels. Indy could work... LOTR I'm a little sick of parodies of. I wouldn't really care for Back to the Future either. How about the Matrix Trilogy?

They won't do another trilogy. If they do anymore full parody episodes, it will be only be a single episode about a franchise. It's obvious they only finished the OT because they are huge fans of it, but I imagine each full parody episode requires a ton of work to make.

I'd love to see them do TWoK, but I suppose that will never happen.

BTTF could work except for the fact that they've done so many BTTF cutaways and references already--really, what's left?

They could do The Matrix but not the whole trilogy. Reloaded would be difficult to translate and Revolution is so thin on story I'm not sure how they could make it funny.

I want to see them doing a parody of a satire of another parody. That would be so hilarious.

Seriously, it's just so fucking lame. And cheap.

Now if they wanted to go somewhere creative with this they could make some sequels or prequels riffing off what's been established already. That could really be engaging.

Like others said, there's nothing left for BTTF with the endless FG cutaway humor. So why not do a BTTF 4? That would at least add something to the need to satirize everything... and continue the story that need not be continued. They could even up up with an argument against a BTTF 4.

Indy Jones - same thing. Why rehash that same old shit again and again? How funny could it possibly be to see (for example) Indy being chased by a huge stone sphere over and over and over and over again? Every time it's parodied it's the same tired old cliche.

I refuse to let Hollywood shit in my mouth 100 times and then ask them for more.

I'd love to see them do the Back to the Future trliogy.

If you mashed all 3 films into 1 half hour cartoon it would be really good.

If you tried to stretch it out any more than that it would get VERY dull by the end.

(Unless you think 20 minutes of animated Doc/Clara romance parody sounds like a fun time to you.)

^^ Right, but if they riffed off of it and created something new then it would be worth watching.

I'm a massive BTTF fan but that animated series that came out after the trilogy was gawd awful. We don't have days rainy enough for that garbage.

If Seth McFarlane wants to do something clever that plays off the emsemble of BTTF without rehashing the plot ad nauseum I would actually be rather pumped to check it out.

That's almost as much fun as the short-lived BTTF animated series! Jules as Verne as the central characters? (sounds of me loading shotgun for my head)

I love the idea of Family Guy doing unnecessary sequels to classic movies. Matrix: The Return of Neo! Back to the Future: Back Again! Maybe a WWII set Indy?

family guy - battlestar galactica (new or old)

It could work. Meg in Cavil's role finally snapping over the shit she's had to take. Stewie as Blatar with head Rupert (six).

I'd love to see them do TWoK, but I suppose that will never happen.

TWOK Could be fun. We've already seen Stewie as Kirk. No Chicken as Khan though, I'm sick of the giant Chicken. Put Bertram in Khan's spot

Considering what Baltar and Head Six do a lot, that is wrong on so many levels.

Well if Stewie were Kirk the Giant Chicken wouldn't work for Khan anyway since that's Peter's nemesis.
