Preview video for DC's Young Justice animated series

Batman: The Brave and the Bold news from Comic-Con: the show will, as expected, end its run at 65 episodes. Both Superman and Wonder Woman have been cleared to appear in future episodes. It was hinted that James Tucker has started work developing a new Batman animated series.

Maybe they'll kill off the Justice League and the YJ team will have to try to fill their shoes. :D

Or they'll be sent into a void.

Interesting no Green Lantern(probably due to the movie) but he is drawn

There are character designs for both Hal Jordan and John Stewart on the wall in the video. A Green Lantern isn't shown in the particular shot you posted because that's clearly a shot of the adult heroes who are direct mentors to the teen heroes standing before them.

Darn. Why not let it run longer? This is the best take on Batman and the broader DC pantheon since the DCAU.

Both Superman and Wonder Woman have been cleared to appear in future episodes.

That's good news. I wonder who'll play them.

Hopefully one set in the TB&TB universe.

Some more info from the panel:

Robin will be the youngest team member, at age 13, but he'll be the most experienced as a hero. He won't, however, be team leader. That position will be held by Aqualad. Kid Flash and Artemis will both be age 15. Miss Martian will be age 16. Superboy is said to be age 16 weeks (he is a clone after all).

Edit to add: James Tucker spoke to Comic Continuum about the new Batman show. He said it's in the very early development stage, but it'll be radically different from Batman: The Brave and the Bold and it'll probably be a CGI show.

Aqualad is the leader?! LOL.

Ugh, I much prefer drawn animation to CGI. The only one that looks any good is Clone Wars, and that's with their "distinctive" visual style.

Why do I get the feeling they made him leader so that he has something to do, I'm sure someone can help out here by posting one of the tons of aquaman is useless jokes.

I would have preferred Robin to take point tbh, he's perhaps the most well known of the heroes, he's been going longest, even in the show.

Which seems to mean that the Artemis character isn't a renamed Arrowette as has been assumed. Perhaps she actually is Artemis of the Bana-Mighdall?

I remember mentioning this very idea several months ago.

Might be interesting to see what possibilities unfold, especially since "Speedy or Red Arrow" was also mentioned in the preview footage"

Leave it to Greg Wiseman to turn cursory interest into anticipatory desire.

Yeah I got the feeling that they would be something like that from the way the Justice League looked all ominous together during the preview, kind of seems like a sketchy way to bring them together. This seems like a edgier version of Teen Titans and why is there no Wonder Girl on the team?

Not too sure about that, covert ops? The robin, aqualad, speedy episode of Brave and the Bold sounded like a better start to a young justice than that does. Granted I'll still wtach, but I can moan about it before hand.

From IGN:

As explained, Young Justice will take place with the DC multiverse on Earth-16. As a conscious choice, DC chose this world as it is untapped, which allowed them to set the rules and conditions for their universe. To start off, Superman has been fighting crime for 10 years and the Justice League is new to the scene. So effective at their job, the heroes of this world have forced the villains underground, to band together in more intelligent ways against the forces of good. With celebrity status, the Justice League is constantly in the public eye, so they need a team to be able to work covertly, under the radar, in order to take it to the villains. And that team is Young Justice.

Or perhaps the daughter of villains Sportsmaster and Tigress. Could be an interesting twist.
