Preview video for DC's Young Justice animated series

Gotham Knights Online has been passing along some of the information divulged at Comic-Con panels. The Robin in Young Justice is indeed Dick Grayson.

Am I the only one who was expecting the classic 90's superboy, jacket et al?
Looks good and as others have said it looks close to JLU which I enjoyed so I shall be checking out.
Is Wondergirl out due to the Wonder Woman embargo still on non solo performances, I assume it wouldn't count here as it didn't in JL, but what do I know.
I didn't read much young Justice comics, though I did read and enjoy the pilot issue/story with the mist girl and the following one where the children are whisked to another Earth. I think I was kinnda expecting the show to be that.

A lot of the voice cast were revealed at the Comic-Con panel:

The core Young Justice team will consist of Robin/Dick Grayson (Jesse McCartney), Kid Flash/Wally West (Jason Spisak), Aqualad (Khary Peyton), Superboy/Connor Kent (Nolan North), Miss Martian (Danica McKellar), and Artemis (Stephanie Lemelin).

Sixteen of the regular Justice League members will appear, with Bruce Greenwood voicing Batman, Phil LaMarr voicing Aquaman, Alan Tudyk as Green Arrow, and Rob Lowe as Captain Marvel.

That still is one of my favorite superhero costumes.

Now onto my knee-jerk reaction to Greenwood as Batman...

Conroy would have the series so much more awesome. Without him the series is doomed to fail! :shifty:

Now the reality of the situation is I have no idea how Captain Pike will be as I have yet to see "Under The Red Hood". And it's got Batman in it. I am a huge Batman fan and have enjoyed all of his animated appearances since B:TAS. So I am going to enjoy this regardless of the lack of Conroy.

Greenwood is outstanding in Batman: Under the Red Hood.

I don't think they can use Wonder Girl because of the Wonder Woman rights issue, possibly maybe. The rule that states if Wonder Woman isn't a starring role than nothing concerning her can appear.

Wonder Woman is in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse in a supporting role, though, plus she's appeared in ensemble shows like Justice League where she was one of a number of co-leads (although that could be termed a starring role). If Wonder Girl was part of the permanent ensemble in Young Justice it would be a situation akin to Wonder Woman appearing in Justice League.

Nolan North as Superboy!? That man gets his voice everywhere. I hope he changes his style a bit or else I won't be able to get Nathan Drake out of my head while watching it.

The restriction isn't on non-solo appearances for WW, but for non-lead appearances, i.e. guest roles. That's why she could appear in JL/U -- because she was one of the lead characters.

We did see Wonder Woman as part of the JL in the clips we were shown -- which is surprising, since the JL aren't the lead characters in this show. So I guess that, for whatever reason, the embargo doesn't apply here. So I don't know why they don't use Wonder Girl. Maybe they just found the other female characters more interesting.

Jesse McCartney's the one who was originally going to be Zuko in The Last Airbender, right? I don't think I'm familiar with anything he's done. Spisak's filmography shows one or two things I've seen, but he's not a voice I recognize, nor is Lemelin. Khary Payton was Cyborg on Teen Titans, and I generally liked his work there; he's a good choice. I recognize Nolan North as Cyclops on Wolverine and the X-Men and Green Lantern in Crisis on Two Earths, and he was Raphael in the TMNT movie and Hank Pym in Ultimate Avengers, but I can't say he's an actor who stands out in my awareness. I know Danica McKellar's voice as Frieda from Static Shock, and I remember her from The West Wing.

So the only one in this list I'm at all enthusiastic about is Payton. Everyone else is wait-and-see.

Now, that's more like it. Greenwood reprising Batman is interesting; I assume this isn't in continuity with Under the Red Hood, since Dick is still Robin, so that would make Greenwood the first person other than Kevin Conroy to play Batman in two different WB-produced animated continuities. (If we leave out "WB-produced," I'd have to add Olan Soule and Adam West, both of whom voiced Batman for Filmation before moving on to Superfriends.) I haven't seen UtRH yet, so I'm still undecided on Greenwood, but heck, at least it's not William Baldwin.

LaMarr is certainly a heavy hitter, but I'm so familiar with his various hero and tough-guy voices by now that I don't expect anything really novel here. And I think that John DiMaggio should be Aquaman for life. "Outrageous!"

Alan Tudyk as anybody is awesome news. And Rob Lowe as the Big Red Cheese? Could be interesting.

But who's playing Wonder Woman, Flash, and J'onn?

Greenwood is actually in danger of squeezing into the number two spot as Batman already so seeing him reprise the role is good news for me, especially if he has a slightly larger role than the other JL members as was hinted by his title as general.
Another one with thumbs up for Tudyk, though it makes me wonder what sort of Arrow we will be getting? I assume he won't be the early style arrow in BatB, so will he be the more brooding darker hero from JLU, which I wouldn't think would work with Tudyk, but maybe I'm wrong.

JLU's Green Arrow wasn't dark and brooding. He was more of a sardonic, witty character, although opinionated and activist, not afraid to get into an argument over something he believed in. And he was largely defined by his banter-filled romance with Black Canary. That sort of GA would be right up Tudyk's alley.

I'd love to see a Kid Question even if there wasn't one in the comics. Maybe the son of the Question and Huntress?

Voice casting and direction for the series is being done by Jamie Thomason, who previously worked with Greg Weisman on Gargoyles and Spectacular Spider-Man and who's been acting as voice director for the DC Showcase shorts.

Also, they said at one of the panels that Wonder Girl and Arrowette will show up down the line.

Which seems to mean that the Artemis character isn't a renamed Arrowette as has been assumed. Perhaps she actually is Artemis of the Bana-Mighdall?

I saw the vid a while ago and quite liked it. Looking forward to watching this.
Me too:techman: Though, DVD for me:cool:
I would like to see Wonder Girl added to the team, but maybe there will be a guest apperance or something:)...
