Your Favorite TV Show That Was Cancelled

Star Trek Enterprise was getting good just as it was cancelled
Firefly was good from day one, but I wanted more, damn it!
Angel was still great in season five, IMO, and I was so pissed when they canned it

Shows that didn't even last one full season, Eyes and Brimstone. :(

Most recently, Life.

I loved Brimstone. Reaper was basically the comedy version of Brimstone. Same basic premise with the Devil as a regular cast member.

I thought Sliders was actually finding its footing in its final season, which is remarkable considering it had only one original cast member left. They finally started to take the premise seriously and really explore it, then the morons at Skiffy canceled it because they were committed to that godawful First Wave.

I also agree that SeaQuest 2032 was a decent show in its own right and deserved to go on longer. It just wasn't SeaQuest in anything but name.

Jericho-the 2cnd American Revolution storyline would have been awesome
Over There-the best war series outside of MASH ever made
and that ESPN series about the pro football players-what was it called?

I've gotta throw in Dead Like Me. Another painful cancellation for me was Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip--a much better show than "30 Rock."

I've only seen a couple of 30 Rock episodes, but I did enjoy Studio 60. I agree that it should have carried on.

Another that come to mind are Sports Night.

Life
4400 (Though the novels did a good job on that)
Farscape (at least we got Peacekeeper wars)
Dead Like Me (Haven't seen the film, but have heard it's a disappointment)

@Mistral - I too thought Over There was decent:)

Wonderfalls,
Raines,
Threshold,
Invasion,
In Justice,
Miracles,
Herman's Head,
sorry, can't pick just one.

PS Forgot Kings!

I'll add this because nobody else will:

Bionic Woman (The Remake)

Yes, I know, sci-fi fans roundly reamed this show while NBC and the writers' strike that season clubbed it to death, but I was into it, especially with Starbuck as the eee-vil Bionic Woman.

And I miss seeing Michelle Ryan bounce around on TV. (sigh)

Firefly
Enterprise
Terminator:SCC

And I can't believe no one has said this yet:

The Middleman
.

Wonderfalls,

PS Forgot Kings!

Yep, definitely agree with both.

Wonderfalls was one of those shows I recorded, and by the time I got around to watching the two episodes I had, it was cancelled. Thank God for DVD, or I'd have never been able to see the rest.

That show really got a raw deal (as did Drive). A show need more than 3 episodes to find an audience, especially if it's moved or pre-empted right after it starts.

There are a ton that were canceled prematurely, or at least I felt like they were canceled prematurely. Enterprise was a shame because it was just getting good. Firefly an even bigger shame because it wasn't even given a chance. Even though I loved the finale of Angel, I still would have liked to have seen it continue for another season or two.

One of my biggest disappointments was Everwood, which was a truly incredible show. There weren't and currently aren't many shows that accurately deal with what it's like to be a teenager or young adult in a town you don't feel comfortable in, or the dynamic between a son and a father that feels genuine and authentic, but Everwood really covered new ground and felt emotionally resonant.

When something soap opera-y like 7th Heaven gets canceled and then brought back to life -- with an already long history on television -- and yet a sophomore show like Everwood gets canceled... it's just annoying and irritating.

I would have LOVED to have seen more Arrested Development, but it's one of those rare shows that was so consistently good and funny that if continuing meant a decline in quality then I'm glad it ended when it did. However, if they would have been able to sustain the type of quality they were producing with each episode, it was a true loss for that show to end when it did.

Chuck's got one good season left it it. After that, I'd be okay with seeing it go.

I can't believe I forgot Jericho! That needed at least two more seasons.
