Can you give me evidence that the government give pensions to people simply because they have one 32nd Aboriginal blood? My aunt, who is Aboriginal and 62 years old, had to fight damn hard to get a pension. None of her children get a pension.



I also think that women who want wear a burqa and also want to drive need to be willing a) to have their face on their license and b) be willing to show their faces to police officers if asked to.

I'm no fan of banning religious expression either, but both of these comments are either highly disingenuous or just plain shortsighted.

Obviously the ongoing clash of culture, politics and religion between the west and the east amounts to a great deal more than wrangling over the freedom of religious expression. You don't get to place yourself above the whole thing based on this one area where most people agree the USA has it right. There's plenty of blame to spread around regarding the mess we find ourselves in.

True, but one does not have to be a muslim woman to wear a Burqa. If you are going to enact such a policy for security reasons, it makes no sense at all to allow easily exploitable exceptions, you may as well not bother at all.

I'm with Carrie. Those things should be banned. Their only purpose as stated by th religion itself is to keep women separate from men.

In a society where ALL people are free - regardless of religion - any clothing or headwear or ... chains or anything symbolizing oppression must be banned.

If they want to wear the headscarves in the privacy of their own home ... so be it. But not in public.

^A lot of the women wearing them are not first generation immigrants. They're more likely to be third or fourth generation. As a result, they're as French as anyone else in France. They have no where else to go to.
