Amy Pond (SPOILERS)

She couldn't have been chasing the Doctor before her wedding; she didn't remember his existence until after the vows were exchanged.

"Flesh and Stone" still happened. Well, not exactly. Well...

Dammit, you know what I mean.

Yeah, and she and Rory worked it out between themselves afterwards.

And, y'know, bear in mind that, being stuck in the middle of a forest surrounded by murderous aliens and not being able to open your eyes? An incredibly traumatic experience, that. The sort that might prompt someone to make a rash, ill-thought-out decision afterwards, especially if they've never suffered that level of trauma before. People do weird things when they're in extreme emotional states; it's the sort of thing I'm inclined to forgive people for in real life.

Yup. She'd been in an incredibly tense situation, she was already in a mess over the whole idea of getting married anyway, and then her imaginary friend she'd been fixated on since childhood (and not beyond the realms of possibilities that he'd feartured in adolescent fantasises as she grew older) turns up in a time machine and takes her off into space/the past/the future!

As I've said before, more specifically with relation to Rose/9. The Doctor is in effect the handsome older/wiser man with a sports car!

Amy is clearly a very flirty woman as well, and I think most of what she says is actually that (the you may kiss the bride bit especially) it is possible to be very flirtatious and also faithful (I am!;) )

I think it speaks volumes for how she thinks about Rory by the fact that even when she didn't remember him, Vincent could see she was sad/crying over him.

Does anybody think we'd be having this conversation if Rory had thrown himself at River on the eve of his wedding? (which would be insane because River would eat him alive and then Amy would disembowel what was left!

^ No kidding! He was at his stag party cheering on a stripper to jump out of his cake! And where was Amy? Home in bed.

^Which says that Amy doesn't have many or even any female friends in the village to have a Hen night more than anything else.

Exactly.

And, frankly, I think we should also bear in mind that Amy honestly wasn't sure whether she wanted Rory or the Doctor after meeting the "Raggedy Doctor" until "Amy's Choice." Up until that point, she had some very strong feelings for the Doctor, too, and she really wasn't sure whom she loved more until Rory's fake death.

Is that a good thing? Well, no. But I think we all know what it's like to have really strong feelings for two people, and to be unsure of who to be serious about -- especially in the wake of major life changes, such as a marriage, finding out your imaginary friend is real, and ending up in traumatic crises fairly often.

^The least she could have done is try to spare her husband's feelings instead of marching in to the TARDIS demanding a snog.

Marriage is an archaic institution that needs to die but if if you're going to get married then at least have it mean something for more than a few hours.

It was a fucking joke. Rory made a minor protestation because he knew it was a joke. It didn't actually hurt his feelings, and it wasn't an actual betrayal.

^You might read it that way, I didn't, not in light of her previous actions. This is all just the usual double standard excuse making.

I think she was trying to wind up both of them, Rory and the Doctor.

Exactly.

I mean, if she were serious about wanting to snog the Doctor, why did she do it right in front of her husband? And why was he not seriously offended?

I like the way the Doctor says "Pond", So if Rory is now a Pond, the Doctor can say it twice as much.

This might be somewhat OT but it does relate to her and I don't want to start an entire new thread just for this question.

Since other crucial things about Amy's life were missing before the crack was closed, like her parents, is it possible that she actually IS a cop? i.e. her entire history on the police force was erased but not the uniform, so the universe rewrote itself around her and a job as a kissogram was the path of least resistance. Now that the crack has closed that might be restored.

Thing is, we saw her in a bridal gown and not a bobby's uniform... does a female police officer in Britain wear her uniform at her own wedding?

^No, she'd wear a wedding dress just like any other woman.

And that 'uniform' she wore was somewhat far removed from any real Police uniform I've ever seen.

No. Amy was 7 years old when the TARDIS crashed outside her house and she first met the Doctor. That means she was 19 during the main story of The Eleventh Hour, and 21 in the ending when she does join the Doctor.

21 is probably too young to be a police officer, and 19 definately is.

Not really, you can join the Police Force and become a Police Officer over the age of 18, so yeah, by 21 she could easily become one.

Well, seeing as how she was in fact 19 in The Eleventh Hour (when we actually see her in the costume) that still seems a bit young to be a police officer. Even if she joined when she was 18, whouldn't she still be in training at 19?
