Online Petition Bring Back Kathryn Janeway!

Given that Kirk's only alive in a book series that the actor himself is writing (albeit with help) I'm not sure that's a fair example...unless Kate Mulgrew wants to try her hand at authorship as well.

Maybe time for Picard to accept promotion or retire. What is he, 76 after Destiny?

Don't Trek humans live to ripe old ages, though? Wasn't McCoy pretty old in Encounter at Farpoint?

Both Admiral McCoy and Admiral Archer were around 140 by the times of "Encounter at Farpoint" and STXI (I assume it's a different beagle!). So Picard's at future-human middle age. Hence him having knocked up 50+ Beverly in the novels without the need for super IVF.

However if Kirk can stay dead after well falling off a bridge, I don't see the need for Janeway to get better treatment. I mean the Sisko is gone and Kirk is gone, then Janeway and even Archer lost his beagle(thanks to nuScotty)...

No Kirk, and Sisko are back in Trek novels, infact every male main character that has died has been returned in one form or another. However none of the female main characters that have died have returned.

There has been percentage wise, more female characters killed and none returned unlike any of the males who have all returned.

Actually - as for Kirk - you are incorrect. The character of James T. Kirk is back only in the Shatner series of novels that Pocket Books authorized. James T. Kirk is still dead in the main novel line.

The funny thing is that the Shatnerverse novels weren't so much contradicted by regular Treklit as the events were just never, ever spoken about outside the Shatnerverse...until Janeway's death. A few other contradictions between the series'(Titan's in Federation space, Bajor's not yet in the Federation etc) could be ignored or fudged away, but Janeway (who's portrayed as the stuffy-Admiral-thinks-she's-right-but-actually-isn't) being alive in 2381 (Before Dishonor was set in 2380, current novels are about 2382) is the unavoidable continuity-breaker.

No I am right by your own post, Kirk is alive if only in Shatner's line. Pocket Books publishes them and his fans can read them, which is way more than any of the fans of the dead females have.

But would Janeway fans really be satisfied if she existed in a bubble like the Shatnerverse?

Just asking, I'm only an observer here.

If you could get the right writer, someone who likes the character I think it just might show the Pocket Books people just how wrong they were to kill her in the first place. I'd love to see a "good" book about a living Admiral Janeway. I can think of a couple of ways myself that this could work.

I would happily accept that, yes.
Why not? I quite like the Shatnerverse.

Another possibility is to "resurrect" her (and other aspects of 24c Trek in the nuVerse.

I think, if they were smart, would see it as a chance to wipe the slate clean and start over. Assuming that, for all intents and purposes, TV Trek is dead and it's going to be cinema only, literature well be the best medium in which to expand the new universe.

Theoretically, Voyager could even be completely "reinvented" completely. Though, I don't know how practical it'd be.

No, I'd like to start a new universe, a Mulgrew-verse, just after Voyager returns home from the DQ. I don't want to rewrite Voyager's history in the DQ. I just want to rewrite the books there after.

I never read the post End Game books. Started reading Spirit Walk, but did not get far. I recently finished Unworthy, but she is already dead. Why did she accept promotion in the first place?

Pocket Books already has Janeway very much alive in STO, in the bookstores right now. Does that not fit the bill or must Janeway be the star of the story, all or nothing?

I want to read about Janeway, and Voyager's people. I don't like them split all over the various books. There is a lot of ways to do this, I've said it before and I'll say it again. A good writer can take characters, build conflicts and put characters in jeopardy without resorting to death in the end. So yes we would want her to play a significant roll in Voyager books.

Do you want to read NG books without Picard?

And why can't Janeway be the star of the story? Are you not coming from an all or nothing position yourself?

And by the way I did purchase the book you are talking about.
