The shots are rather literally quick-and-dirty...the hull "weathering" needs to be dialed back by about half.

I like the nacelle cap effect!

Yeah, put me on the side in favor of your effect. I was never a fan of the original Phase II "painted" caps, as we saw in the WIP models. But, I very much like the way your effect provides a visual bridge to the TOS version, while updating the nacelles. I really like pretty much everything you've done with this model. Nicely done!

Perhaps the caps only become translucent when the engins are running at higher power, the faster you go the more you see.

Very, very nice. Reminds me of one of my favorite SFX shots. Approaching Khitomer in TUC. Speeds towards the camera and then the camera pivots to follow as it heads towards orbit.

BolianAdmiral, that's a combination of planetary maps - mainly Mars and Io with transparency and color twiddling, some cut-and-paste oceans and an Earth cloud map.
