Has anybody ever laughed at you??

Cheapjack

Fleet Captain
What's the worst thing that has ever happened to you, and did anyone laugh? As a child, or an adult?

What's the most injust thing that has ever happened in your life?

Well... the worst thing must have been when i totaled a cop car. that wasnt funny but noone was around to witness it.

but there is this thing my friend did a few years ago. he was supposed to pick me up but he was late so i called him. and i hear his car revving in the background so i asked him if he was driving too fast since the cops were all over the place. "of course i'm not dri..." was all he had time to say before he gently out his nissan against a tree in dunno maybe 80-90mph. and guess what. the guy got out of the car without even a bloody nose. i still have no idea how he did that.

I've had some despicable things happen and everybody laughed. Only two people had any sympathy for me. It's amazing how people use any excuse, to try to make out you deserved it, and it was funny and if it happened to them, it would be appalling, I wouldn't laugh and would be the first to help.

For example?

You'll get better participation in your thread if you, you know, actually participate in it yourself...

I've been beaten up for minding my own business in my own house. My neighbours underneath me couldn't understand why I didn't sit and watch TV all night, when I was reading. I was in a low-achieving area. Two of them did it. Everybody thought is was hilarious. Only two people didn't.

I've had people laugh at me for being injured... those people are terrible.

Wait, what? Your neighbors beat you up because you were reading? :wtf:

This is really two questions.

1. I've had many unjust things happen to me, none of which are relevant here.

2. Yes, many people have laughed at me, including some of you. Not when I want you to, but, what the hell......

I had a cellphone once that had the TOS communicator noise as a ringtone.

So I'm in New York City, and emerging from a subway station on Lexington Avenue when my phone rings. People around me start laughing when they hear that ringtone. :alienblush:

People laughing at me? All the time!
They do it for many reasons, but one of them is that I'm usually seen as a goody two shoes who is naive about everything because I am rather optimistic and idealistic, so the more cynical and jaded do tend to laugh at me. Other than that, I laugh at myself a lot, too.

^^ And they knew what the ringtone was how, exactly? Hypocrites.

RandyS, I love your avatar! Do you know where I might find a larger version of that image? I've never seen it before.

Hey, everybody recognized the tone, so what were they laughing about  ?

One of my more unpleasant memories goes back to my childhood. When I told my parents that I wanted to become an actress they laughed. I don't remember exactly how old I was, something around 8 or 9, but this is something I never forgot. Don't laugh at your children even if you think it's funny.

Yeah, that story doesn't add up.

I was a nerdy, chess playing, comic book reading, latent homosexual Star Trek lover as a teen ..., I was laughed at (among other things) every day for most of my early adolescence.

But, I'm not bitter. :p

Yeah, I've had people laugh at questions I asked in class. Sometimes because I was focussing on taking notes, I hadn't heard someone just ask the question and have it answered. Another time because I twisted a move character and the actress--so my question really sounded stupid. Fuck it. I say stupid things a lot.

One time people did laugh was at my bat mitzvah. Anyone familiar with a Friday night version knows that there's the prayers before the haftorah (the selection from The Prophets), the haftorah, and the prayers after. Lasting, I don't know, maybe 15 mintues? In front of everyone. All chanted in Hebrew. Which I don't read. So I got through the prayers before and the haftorah. Right before I started the prayers afterwards, I took a deep breath--and a real deep and audible sigh of relief. Mom said that people laughed (I didn't hear them), mostly because they could hear how heartfelt my sigh of relief was. She used a Yiddish word, which conveys it better.

I still question that. Crazy people preach of made up religions at the top of their lungs while smelling like wet garbage in this city and no one bats an eye. But yet people were concerned with the TOS chirp?

Maybe they were laughing because they liked it?

Most likely.

I think by and large, a lot of people have a hard time telling when people are "laughing with them"

Too many people have persecution complexes.

Back on topic:

I think the last time people laughed at me was when I was drunk at Hooters, my friends told the girls it was my birthday so they made me stand on the barstool while sang to me. I fell off, everyone laughed. And rightfully so, it was fucking hilarious.
