Novels on JJAbrams universe?

Are there any novels that take place in the new established JJAbrams universe? I know about the comics, but I couldn't find any novels or maybe I haven't search good enough.

Four novels were scheduled and then pulled. No word yet on when or if they'll be released. There are some Young Adult novels due out soon.

Why is that? Just curious, since the movie was a bit hit.

It seems to be that the filmmakers want to keep tighter herd on tie-ins to their continuity and make sure it all fits together. So books that just went ahead and independently conjectured about what happened after the movie, even in the standalone, continuity-neutral way we attempted to do, didn't fit into their approach. So it looks like there won't be any tie-ins set after the movie at least until the script for the second movie is locked in and the filmmakers know what happens next.

It was simply decided, rather late in the day, that the sequels to the new movie are off-limits for the time being. That's all.

They canceled the tie-in books because Janeway wasn't in them.
