wildstar, please post some kind of commentary when you're linking an article. It's good form. A little more than you added for Trekker's sake would be nice.
 
Yeah, but he can't see. That's sort of the point of an eye.

What I gleemed was that he had already lost the eye to the point of it being usless. It's unclear, but either the eye had become so inefective that it was "legally blind" or it was damaged to the point where it had to be removed, he opted to replace it with his webcam thing rather than a glasseye.

You meant "gleaned." ;)

And it's just not a bionic eye in the sense most people think of it--a high-tech prosthetic replacement for the original organ. It's cool, but the fact that it doesn't restore any kind of sight in his eye reduces this to a mere novelty. It's just a wireless camera in his eye socket. I could put one in my belly button if I wanted, or hang it from my ear. Unless I can actually see with it, though, it's not really any kind of innovation or breakthrough.
