Songs that remind you of TrekBBS members (and other people)

Locutus of Bored: "Hold on Loosely" - .38 Special

That's a great song. Thanks.

I associate Locutus of Bored with "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie. Once of us had posted something about it in some random thread and the other liked it as well, so that's the reason for the association. Plus I can imagine him rocking out to Queen.

I do indeed rock out to both Queen (one of my favorite bands) and David Bowie, so that's a perfect choice.

My choices:

Holdfast - ZZ Top - Sharp-Dressed Man

J. Allen of Vulcan - Enigma - Sadeness (Part 1) - J's a very spiritual guy, so I could see him partying to this.

Kestra - The Ballad of Serenity - Not just because of your avatar, but because you genuinely remind me of Kaylee; sweet, smart, and always willing to help fix things.

Kira's Mom - Fountains of Wayne - Stacy's Mom - Because every time I read her user name I can't help but say "Kira's Mom has got it goin' on."

Zion Ravescene - Rage Against the Machine - Wake Up - Because the Zion rave music sucks (sorry) and this is the song I most associate with 'The Matrix' films.

Laserganoosh - John Fogerty - Centerfield

Frontline - Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot

trampledamage - Pink Elephants on Parade

SPOCKED - Leonard Nimoy - The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins

T'Bonz - Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries - T'Bonz = Air Cav. Unsuspecting Vietnamese Village = Trolls & Spammers.

Spaceman Spiff - David Bowie - Space Oddity

thestrangequark - Susan Vega - Tom's Diner - I could totally picture her putting her day to song like this.

M'Sharak - King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King - Because it's an epic song and seems like something he would enjoy.

I don't know why I make the association, but I do. Though, I could easily see you rocking out to some .38 Special. :D

Ha! This is one of my favorite songs, so yeah. :D

RoJoHen: "Pick Up the Pieces" - Average White Band

Both the name of the song and the name of the band seem way too appropriate for me at the moment.

Well, sometimes I hit the nail on the head, and other times it hits me. :D

I do like that one, in fact. Found a very nice performance of it recently, recorded on a Steve Hackett tour (Tokyo Tapes, I think - since removed by YouTube, unfortunately.)

Oh my, yes. Also, Elephant Talk by the same band. He does so enjoy the brouhaha.

:D
Babble, burble, banter
Bicker, bicker, bicker

While I was trying to find the video I stumbled across this, which was pretty awesome in its own right.

Heh, I just noticed down in the bottom right corner of the video window they have a little soccer ball (sorry, football - yeah, yeah, whatever) and if you click it it overlays the video with the lovely melody of vuvuzelas. I hadn't noticed that YouTube was doing this.

I am glad my name hasn't been brought up...God only knows what songs I remind people of.

;)

Dammit J. You have got to start sending out a memo when you change your name. You were posting at me the other day and I didn't even know it was you. :rommie:

And I am not going to coax anyone into giving me one... because we ALL know what mine is... Smurfs!

(Actually it should be this little number since I am the Slutty Smurf. It is so wrong... so very very wrong. If you can't handle sexual but funny don't click. And it is NOT safe for work kids!)

And for all those who know me in real life it would be... Thompson Twins-Hold Me Now

And Flukie... I love that Rick Astley song. :bolian: Awesome!

Wait...Sarek of Vulcan is J. Allen?

I honestly thought it was an entirely different poster.

EDIT: If that's J. Allen, then I choose Dream Theater--"Voices" for him. Just trust me on this one. I wish the song had resolved differently than it did, but it fits. (Some of Petrucci's songs have a very different mood than this one, but I've heard it was a character he was writing, who was very deeply tormented. There's a lot of discussion on SongMeanings.net trying to figure out what's going on here.)

I think we need a thread just on current and former names. Anyone with enough knowledge willing to start it?

And separate out ones that are only suspected?
