I, personally, wanted to watch a Star Trek movie, not thinly veiled Star Wars remake. But, once again, that's just me. Apparently eveybody else is perfectly alright with it.
Problem is my wife likes to watch it just to annoy me. And she has it on the DVR, so every once in a while, she'll play it just to hear me fuss...So whaddaya do?
Then leave your wife. Again, problem solved.
Nah. I kinda lik her.![]()
Try subjecting her to the Ludovico treatment to cure her of the habit.

I-Am-Zim, these are subtleties. We are not concerned with motive, with the higher ethics; we are concerned only with maintaining the integrity of the TOSverse and relieving the ghastly presence of the Abramsverse in your home. She will be your true Shatnerian. The point is that it works!

I've seen each ST movie 10-15 times and each SW movie about three times. JJ's ST film does not remind me about SW at all. It does, however, remind me of TOS, TNG, ENT and the TOS movies.
It's just another anti Abrams rant. I don't think he knows how to post anything else.
We've all noticed.
Do we have to?
Come on mod, he's trolling for trouble and doesn't get one warning?
Kudos to the OP for not getting hooked.
Yes. you have a compelling argument about how JJAbrams hates Star Trek and is turning it into Star Wars. I think we're done here. You've showed us all the way.
I'm going to follow your lead and join a Babylon 5 forum to convince them how wrong they are for not hating that show as I do.
That's enough, both of you.
I am waiting for this 3D Master-esque scene by scene Star Trek XI is Star Wars list.
I-Am-Zim, I see some of the allusions you do, but rather than intentionally turning Star Trek into Star Wars, JJ Abrams used some rather common themes found in space operas AND science fiction films. Some themes are common to good (and poor) storytelling: a protagonist hero; an antagonist for him/her; obstacles to overcome; the hero's true destiny, etc.
Since the special effects were done by Industrial Light and Magic which is owned by the creator of Star Wars, some 'Easter eggs' are expected. In fact, it has become a trademark of ILM to place SW references in almost all their productions.
I can live with those. Some of them are really interesting. If you make such an itemized list, I would watch it. It would be for very different reasons than you, but I would watch it.
P.S.- Is your wife a Carolina Girl? "Carolina girls, best in the world."![]()
