Oh yeah that's right she did say she would see them both again when the Pandorica opens. I guess the rewritten stuff then gives her memory gaps?

^Or she'll escape and save everyone in some manner we can't guess, the Doctor will be set free and the TARDIS explosion will un-happen.. Moffet does like his happy endings, after all, and I'd be very surprised if we don't have a very nice, everybody-lives wrapup this season.

Except for the 'wonderful person' she's supposed to kill.

Just watched it so I'm still digesting.

* I was happpy to see River not spending half the story wisecracking and tryign to show up the Doctor. Though I was a bit dissapointed that Moff dismissed the whole 'who taught River to fly the Tardis' mytery with just a throwaway line.

* I rememebr being less than impressed through the first third, when it just seemed like a lot of random incidents just loosely stitched together. Fortunately about midway through it all started to fall into place. And I'm sooo relieved that what I'd originall feared, i.e the Doctor stepping out of the Pandorica as it opened got flipped on its head.

* Hmmm, so the Silurians do have space travel. I'm guessing the ones here are from the 31st century.

*I don't remember Autons making gear grinding sounds before. Or talking.

* So how does River know a written language (the one on the cliff) that no one in the universe save the Doctor knows? Old high Gallifreyan? So apparently no Time Lord ever bothered to check it out? Or else they had seen it and figured it was some time apprentice having a laugh.

* I will be seriously pissed if it does turn out to be Davros behind this.

* I had to smile when I noticed they only showed the Daleks from the front. The only angle where they don't look like rubbish.

* I really am going to have to see the second half to decide on this one. For now, lets just go with Good.

(more thoughts as they occur.)

They never bothered to check it out because she didn't put it there until after they'd all been locked away outside of time.

What's that? If she carved it into the oldest planet in the universe, then the Time Lords still should have been able to see it before the Time War?

Wibbly wobbly... :shifty:

so how pissed are we all going to be if BBC have a game next saturday night?

Even if England crash out, the BBC are still going to broadcast 4 of the 8 Round of 16 games.

http://www.itv.com/sport/football/n...bcannounceworldcupmatchsplit2956/default.html

on the 26th, there is a afternoon game (16:00), and a primetime game (20:30)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_cup_2010

That said if wikipeida means 20:30 UK time, then there would be room for both Doctor Who, and a fair amount of build up.

Would not bet on airing Casualty however ;)

And I bloody hate football too!

Hey check it out. Apparently the banner pic for this thread is a deleted scene!

Hmmm, and the 'stone dalek' thing apparently won't happen til next week.

Pretty good episode with some good suprises and a hell of a situation to resolve, as it should be for a finale. I've seen some cliffhangers that had me invested more emotionally but this was good stuff. As someone who has never liked River Song I was quite suprised to find myself enjoying her in this episode.

ETA: I also liked that the events of the season built up to this episode instead of just some name check which is revealed to have some meaning in the 11th hour.

Maybe she just wrote it in English? Who knows what the TARDIS was translating?

And if were throwing silly nits, did River forget to turn off the brake and shouldn't it have been the Raxicofalipatorians instead of the Slitheen? I suppose maybe that family was somehow involved personally...

Why on earth the people keeping River prisoner would let her keep her hallucinogenic lipstick in her cell with her

But still, really good stuff overall. I hope these rumours of Moffat leaving after the next series are false; this has been my favourite series of new Who by quite a wide margin.

I won't even ask Moffat where she hid the lipstick from the guards ;) and I've not heard the rumors about Moffat, I would hate that to be true.

Moffat turned down some big Hollywood projects to do Doctor Who so I assumed he would be around for Matt Smiths Era or at least 3 years.

Been reading those rumors about Moffat as well. Its got me more than a bit worried. Especially after hearing that other staffers have already left.

Loved the episode, hope the "Big Bang" next week can match the level this story. River mentioned Zygons (!) but they didn't whow them, too bad. They were one of my favorite Tom Baker era aliens.
Thinking about it, wouldn't it be funny if Paul McGann or maybe Tom Baker walked out of the Pandorica and offered Matt Smith's Doctor a jelly baby? The aliens said the barriers between universes was breaking down so they could have had a 4th Doctor that never regenerated show up as the villian. Heck even Tennant's Doctor 1.5 in the other universe could have shown up. Just a wild idea. I'm liking what Mr. Moffat is doing anyway.

The voice who was saying "Silence will fall" sounded awfully familiar. Timelordy perhaps.

I think they only showed creatures for whom they had the costumes lying around. Hence the difficult to explain presence of the Silurians (thought I hate to acknowledge them as such).

I'm guessing the Silurians are from the future (i.e. after their 1000-year hibernation). In the beginning of Cold Blood, the Silurian doing the voice-over at the end talks about everything the Doctor is going to lose. Since the voiceover Silurian talked about how humans and Silurians are now sharing the planet ("after our 1000-year sleep"), I presume he is from 1000 years in the future, and since he talks about "[the Doctor's] greater losses still to come" (or words to that effect), I presume he already has knowledge of the events in The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang.

So basically, I'm guessing the Silurians we see travelled back in time from the year 3020.

Plus it kinda robs them of a 'big reveal' should they make a comeback on the show.

Well, already has killed if she's already in prison! A thread for next year, perhaps?

To be fair, it never really was a mystery.

Yeah, that's the rationalisation we have to make.

Good point.

Was there a reference yet to Amy's Choice? I get the feeling that the one behind it all is ...that guy.

It seems to me that neither the Doctor or River ever really picked up on what Amy was saying about Pandora's Box, or had independently noticed the similarity of the names. . As if neither of them knew the story of Pandora's box. Hmmm. Amy doesn't remember the Dalek invasion, and Doc and River aren't familiar with the myth of Pandora's box. Seems significant to me.
