E3 2010 thread of E3-ness and MASSIVE LEAKS

Isn't that why there's a distinction between 1.6 and CS:S?

They've tried a couple of things. Ghost Squad is the only one to come to mind right now. They crashed and burned though. Golden Sun seems to have done okay though.

One thing I think Nintendo should have done though was fight to keep Perfect Dark. MS and Rare have pretty much wasted one of the best franchises out there.

Yeah, I don't think anyone at Nintendo can make an FPS game though.
Heck, even Retro got retooled just to make a DK game.

The rumor was that Half Life 3 was their big E3 announcement, but now that they announced Steam on PS3 I guess it was just a rumor.

I'd be interested in HL3 if only for CS3.

now by CS3, do you mean Counter-Strike 3?

Yeah. I assume they'd do another iteration to go with the new engine one further assumes would accompany HL3. CSS and CS together - the former five and the latter ten years old - are more popular today on PC than CoD:MW2, BF:BC2, TF2 and L4D2 put together. Valve can't just drop something like that, even if Minh Le no longer works for them.

I've always been curious as to the proportion of HL2 sales which were really CSS sales, given that the latter was bundled as the former's multiplayer component.

Was Condition Zero or Source considered Counter-Strike 2 though?

CZ certainly not. Source ... not at the time. And you could make a solid argument for not today either; after all, they're about equally as popular. I was using 'CS3' as shorthand, not necessarily implying a traditional sequel or that CS:S is CS2. Y'all know what I'm talking about.

The gameplay for Force Unleashed 2 looked pretty good. And I'm glad to hear that they've improved the targeting.

Yeah. I assume they'd do another iteration to go with the new engine one further assumes would accompany HL3.

Solely to pick nits, there is no "HL3" on the horizon, neither is there a new engine.

What we are waiting for is "Half-Life 2: Episode 3".

Since when?

Everyone knows that the next installment is Half-Life 2 Episode 3, and no one knows when that one is coming.

What's this Half-Life 3 business?

Valve has totally failed at making episode content that's actually episodic. At this point, why not just make a full length game and call it HL3?

Did you ... follow the posts leading leading to that one?

Yes.

It's not my fault that some TBBS'ers automatically assumed "HL3" (despite the fact that we still haven't gotten HL2EP3, which everyone knows it next) when Valve said "Big News Coming".

It's not a TBBS rumor, it started elsewhere. You not being aware of it is hardly anyone's fault but your own.

Hey, if you say so, man.

Since the "big news" did NOT turn out to be Half-Life 3, so much the better for me that I was unbothered by any rumors, eh?

Look CD I really have no idea what you're acting like this over the reports of a rumor. But if you really want to call it "baseless" like you did before your edit, you're welcome to read the rumormills yourself.

Source 2 engine

Source 2 and HL3

Now maybe you can get a little less uptight about a "rumor"

Well, speaking for myself, the games that Nintendo announced are the same games that made me a gamer in the first place. I definitely know I am not alone in that group and I think it's safe to say that most individuals in the gaming media fall into that category as well. Nostalgia is a powerful weapons and for the most part, Nintendo is the only group that wields it

Plus, it also helps that Nintendo doesn't do a new release every fucking year. Yeah, I'm looking at you Call of Duty
No you're not alone in that group. I grew up with the franchises they announced have new games coming. Zelda is one of my favorite series so this is awesome news. The 3DS looks interesting too, and I haven't purchased a hand held since the original GBA.

If you're bored, you should watch Konami's press conference.

It's been looping for over 14 hours now and there have been people who have watched every minute of it:

It's the most camp press conference ever produced because of all the awkwardness and sad moments.

(That is NOT a shop!! They actually did that at the conference!!)

Also, a bizarre Kojima bathroom moment:
