Planned Sequels for Movies

^ Hmmm... Jack Nicholson's character isn't dead; he's just a vegetable now but he's attached to a supercomputer that's using his brain for evil? And only Mark Wahlberg and Leonardo DiCaprio's clone can stop it?

Martin Sheen's character's evil mob boss brother, played by Joe Estevez, also figures into it.

And Alec Baldwin...or William or Daniel Baldwin, if any notices.

Rather than a 300 sequel or something else from the Millerverse, I'd rather see a 'straight', less OTT-telling of the same siege.

I would LOVE to see that. I loved 300, but I've always thought it would have been better if it was a "straight" telling of the story.

Certainly what the Athenian general (drawing a blank on his name) did was courageous and impressive

Themistocles ???

With Donny Wahlberg replacing Mark.

My reactions to all of them:

300 2 - Feh.

Alien 5 - Double feh.

Anchorman 2 - I believe in the months since this article was written (in January) Ferrel and others are pretty much on record that this movie is pretty much not going to happen. Not sure I care either way, I only found the first one mildly humorous enough to watch once.

Avatar 2 - Pretty much a given considering how much the first one made (approximately 30 gazillion quatloos) and, personally, I think I could see it being this generation's Star Wars, supposing Cameron bulls off a much better, ESB-quality, second act out of his hat.

Big Momma's House 3 - What the fuck?! Seriously?!

The Blair Witch Project 3 - Ignoring the second one is a good idea. I actualy liked the first one and find it to be a decent, chilling, movie. If it can go back to those roots (with a script this time rather than the actors being told just to run around and say "fuck" a lot) it could be pretty good.

Bloodsport 2 - Feh, whatever.

Bourne 4 - Feh. The first one was good, the others I found to be crap.

Bruce Vs Frankenstein - The who and the what now?

Cars 2 - Something else we've known about for some time and expected given the marketablilty the first one had,

The Chronicles Of Riddick - If it's anything other than DTV it'll be a waste of money to see it. Where the other ones even all that good? (The answer is no.)

Cloverfield 2 - Rumored for a while, if "done right" it could be interesting.

Crank 3D - Of course it'd be in 3D! I mean, why not?!

Dark Knight Sequel/Batman 3 - Fully expected given the popularity -and awesomeness- of the second one. But, please can we tell what's his nut to dial the voice back a couple dozen notches?

The Departed 2 - Whatever

District 9("10") - Somewhat expected, I suppose. D9 was a decent movie, a follow will be good.

The Expendables 2 - Whatever

Fast & Furious 5 - If Vin and Walker are in it, I'll see it.

Friday The 13th Part II -

Get Smart 2 - I'd see it, but it needs a bit sharper writing. But Carrell is perfect cast as Maxwell Smart.

Ghostbusters 3 - No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. And, oh, NO! Not only will it not be done right (2 was crap enough as it is) but the prima dona stick up Murray's ass will ruin it alone. So, No.

Ghost Rider 2 - Whatever, movie makers.

G.I. Joe 2 - The first one was... watchable... I guess. I'd probably see this.

Good Shepherd 2 - Don't care.

Gremlins 3D - Enough with the 3D movie guys. Geeze. And, oh, it's just so origiinal to have the third movie be in 3D!

Hairspray 2 - I actually liked the first one, see no need for a second.

Hancock 2 - I guess somewhat expected but Smith doesn't have a good history with sequels, or even with doing them. And, really, I felt the first one fell off the rails pretty quickly and dived into WTF territory.

The Hangover 2 - Bring it on. The first was hillarious with a fantastic cast.

Happy Feet 2 - Feature it with the animals getting oil cleaned off themselves, then it might be interesting.

High School Musical 4: East Meets West - :barf:

I Am Legend - Yes, because a sequel is just so obvious! I mean, yeah.... :wtf:

ID4-Ever - Way past due, and way past care. But... will it be in 3D?!

Indiana Jones 5 - Because Lucas has raped his own past accomplishments enough. Let's ruin Indy some more!

Iron Man 3 - Expected, and welcomed. The next one needs to be coherent, however, and have a vilain who isn't just another guy in a super-suit.

Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D 2 - :beats head on wall:

Jurassic Park 4 - Ugh. Just let this horse die! I mean, the others weren't terrible enough? Recapture the majesty and magic of the first and you'd have something. But another two hours of people just running from, and getting eaten by, CGI dinosaurs? Pass. Eh, fuck it, I'd end up seeing it anyway.

Kick-Ass 2 - Expected and welcomed. More Hit Girl!

Kill Bill Vol 3 - Not a big fan of this series, or Tarintino, so don't care.

Kung Fu Panda 2 - Don't care.

Lemony Snicket 2 - Care even less.

Madagascar 3 - Even less so.

Mad Max 4 - Hmmmm. Done right it could be awesome.

Mamma Mia! 2 - :barf:

Men In Black 3 - Sigh, if ever a movie series need a reboot or a reinvention. I mean, the first one is good, the next one comes out, like, five years later and it was... Not good. So, now what? Reboot the damn thing and bring some darkness and mysterty to it. Let's see what the MiB "really" are supposed to be like!

Midnight Run 2 - Blah

Mission: Impossible 4 - How much longer until Cruise will likely die? Can we reboot this movie series yet? Can we make it about the team and the espionage? Can we have a deep, complex, and engaging plot like the first one? Can we have less masks ex machnias like the endless ones in the second movie? Can we keep it away from John Woo?

Monsters Inc 2 - One of my more favorite Pixar movies, I don't think a sequel is needed or will do any justice.

National Lampoon’s Vacation 2 - Don't care.

National Treasure 3 - I'd see it.

Night At The Museum 3 - Whatever.

Paranormal Activity 2- Could be interesting.

The Phantom 2 - Whatever.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - A movie series that should've ended with the first one.

Saw VII - Can someone kill this movie series?

Scary Movie 5 - This one too?

Scream 4 - Oh! And this one!

Silent Hill 2 - Don't care.

Sin City 2 - Don't care.

Star Trek 2 - Expected and welcomed.

The Strangers 2 - Who and the what now?

Super Troopers 2 - Awesome.

Taken 2 - First one was good, see no need for another. Whatever, Hollywood.

The Thing - Done right, could be good. It likely won't be done right.

Transformers 3 - Great, just what I need. More seizures.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Expected, and considering what happens in the book, though I'm not sure if it'd happen in this movie or the next, it could be very interesting to watch to see how they pull it off.

Twister 2 - Could see this working, really. Effects have come a long way in the last 10-15 years so it could be interesting.

Underworld 4 - Whatever.

A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas -

Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2 - :double facepalm:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 - As if they didn't fuck the character up enough the first time around.

XXx: The Return Of Xander Cage - With VD coming back, I'd see this.

Zombieland 2 - Awesome, I'd go see it.

Zoolander 2 - No, just, no.

Others: Don't care, except...

White Chicks 2 - ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

What. The. Fuck?!

No, seriously, WHAT THE FUCK?!

Someone tell the Wayans they aren't funny, please? And please find the people who do find them funny and kill them.

Certainly what the Athenian general (drawing a blank on his name) did was courageous and impressive

Themistocles ???

Yeah, that's him. The man took a huge political gamble that paid off. The "wooden walls" saved the Athenians and all of Greece. I can't remember what happened to him afterwards, but 5 bucks says he was ostracized (which is the way it goes in Athens).

In the end he fell out of favor in Athens and was forced to go into exile, never to return. Indeed, such was the way in Athens.

And that's why 300 fits a movie about Spartans better than Athenians. Leonidas' career ended in a simply way - he died in battle. None of the political bullshit they have to deal with in Athens ;)

Is it wrong that I think this idea sounds really cool? I mean, we could be talking brilliant, so-bad-it's-good territory, like Highlander II, Slipstream, or Super Mario Bros.!

While I liked Crank: High Voltage, I think those movies are a bit too gruesome to be tolerable in 3D.

Bruce vs. Frankenstein & Evil Dead IV sound like they could be a lot of fun.

I've been looking forward to the new Riddick movie for a while now.

I don't think Ghostbusters 3 will ever happen. That's probably for the best. Maybe 10 or 15 years ago I would have been interested. But now, it just won't be the same. Even if they reassemble the old cast, movies are so different now that it will still feel totally different.

I'm one of those folks who liked Gremlins 2 better than the 1st one. If a 3rd one can be made with the same sort of stream of consciousness madness, it could be one of the greatest movies ever! (And thus, everyone will hate it, except me.:()

I never saw xXx: State of the Union. However, if Vin Diesel comes back this time, it could be a lot of fun. (BTW, Xander Cage's offscreen "death" in a short film attached to the director's cut DVD of the 1st xXx is one of the lamest things in the history of the entertainment business.
