NHL Discussion - 2009-2010 Season

Scott Arniel, who coached the Manitoba Moose for the past four seasons, will be coaching Columbus next season. Congrats and good luck! :)
He sounds like a good fit for the Jackets. Can't be worse than Hitch was in the end, at any rate.

I could watch this for hours and not get bored.
:guffaw:

Pronger was a career worst -5, was on the ice for 6 of the Hawks' goals, and was in the box for the 7th. That's failure on a truly staggering scale.

I could watch that clip far more if Byfuglien also went down, both with mutual concussions.

Of course, Byfuglien failed for four games at his job - "being a big piece of meat in front of the goal" - but I do understand the Pronger comeuppance factor.

The best part of Game 5 was during the last twenty seconds or so, when the Hawks were all basically hovering around the puck to make sure that Pronger couldn't do his "grab the game puck and be a cocky little bitch about it" routine.

That was the winning goal? I follow a sport where Ladd can kick Chicago's third goal in, and the winning goal goes unnoticed by half the people on the ice? I follow a lame-ass sport.

I'm only kidding. I'm getting my Blackhawks cap tomorrow (I promised people I'd get a cap representing whichever team won this year, thinking it would be Chicago - and even though I like the Hawks far less now than I did in round one, I'll stick to that.)

I thought that whole thing was very appropriate. It's been an insane series already, why not end it as such.

Congrats to Chicago. Well Deserved.

I'd break out the Olczyk hat they handed out for free when I was at a game awhile back, but I look terrible in hats. :p

If you think not winning the Stanley Cup doesn't mean anything, did you see Jeremy Roenick crying while he watched the Hawks skate the Cup?

I am just glad Philly, Chris Pronger, and Bobby Clarke do not get the rings or the glory.

Quite frankly, Canadaboy, su*k it. I am not aware of any Chicago fans cheering on their teams after they lose. Hell, they started the whole "throw the ball back when the opposing team hits a homer", so don't start about poor sportsmanship, either.

Good for Chicago. After the Flyers knocked the Bruins out, I was rooting for the Blackhawks. It's always nice to see a team who hasn't won a championship in a long time finally get over the hump.

Trust me. I'm a Red Sox fan.

Well, not quite as weird a finish as Slap Shot, but still pretty weird.

Phrase that I never thought I'd utter #1: I smiled when Hossa hoisted the Cup. He had the best possible comeuppance last year, and I'm satisfied with that. I'm glad he won finally.

Phrase that I never thought I'd utter #2: Good for the Flyers fans who cheered to drown out the boos when the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup were awarded.

You guys weren't the only ones who noticed that. I have a great respect for Flyers fans after this post-season.

Although sadly, this means the Leafs and their fans are officially the longest-suffering in hockey now :(
The Kings and Blues have gone just as many seasons, and have never won the Cup.

Thank you, because I thought I was the only person who realized what they were doing.
I got to experience the same disappointment as they did attending Game 6 two years ago, so I understand exactly how those fans felt tonight. Putting aside all the rivalry nonsense for a moment, that was a nice moment for the Flyers faithful. (Phrase that I never thought I'd utter #3! ;))
