75 long-lost silent movies being returned to US

Knowing the idiocy of the American film industry, release will be delayed while they are remastered in 5.1

While sorting they threw aways some odd reels marked "Doctor ?" which were deemed too recent to have been lost material.

Could care less about John Ford....but I'd kick 10 men in the nuts to get the Mabel Normand and Clara Bow pics. I really hope someone put these out on DVD....Kino always does a good job.

That's kind of how I feel. maybe they could get Yanni or Chic Correa to do the soundtracks? :techman:

Among other things, an early Mable Normand/Clara Bow picture and a John Ford picture will be sent to the US for preservation and viewing. As an old fan of the silents this is great news. I'm digging to get a list...

This is great news, it's an absolute crime that films and classic television shows can be lost like this - I'm looking at you, BBC Engineering Department.

Nice, I love John Ford. One of my favorite directors.

What I'm really waiting for that full version of Metropolis to hit dvd.

Sweet. Hopefully they can be put on DVD.

How could I be expected to watch anything in less than full Dolby stereo sound? :)

And colorized, with all-new digital CG effects! And music by Danny Elfman.

Motherfracking Lords Of Kobol, the company that will most likely get the rights to distribute these movie will be Janus Films/Criterion, or Kino International Corporation-please stop talking nonsense. And if they take time to remaster them, so what? You don't want shit, do you? :)
