Summer Plans!

Let's hear them. Is it more of the same old? Maybe sneaking in a trip? Are you a student or teacher, and thus get some time off? Is it the summer of every-person-I-know-is-getting-married and all your Saturdays are already filled up? Tell us what you're doing this summer!

The same thing I do every summer: try to take over the world! :D

More seriously, I don't know yet. I just got back from a double trip to Barcelona and Bruxelles, so I don't know how much time I will have for holidays.

So this means you've failed how many times now? What approach are you trying this time?

Oh hey, great thread! It might even help me to get organized :D

This summer I will be:

1. Attending the NKS Summer School
2. Completing the edit of my first novel
3. Completing the rough draft of my second novel

No trips (besides to the school), no vacation, just work --- but fun work! Work that I love to do! I also would really like to get my blog in better shape, and finish a few other minor things. But I think just the three points above will keep me plenty occupied.

Work work work, mainly

Get a little reprieve this month on that around the 20th/21st I'll be driving my younger sister down to our dad in Georgia, and she's gonna spend a week or two with him, so I'll stay there a few days as well and get a little break.

Next break is on July 4th, going back to Georgia, with my other sister and her family, and to pick up my younger sister, and to spend some time that weekend and enjoy the 4th festivities down there in Chattanooga.

Then my actually vacation starts July 17th and will last 2 weeks, going to drive from NC to Texas, bringing my niece, my sister and her friend to Texas to spend time with my mom who lives out there, going to go swimming lots, Hurricane Harbor, and just totally relax out there in the hot sun. It's a long drive, but the roadtrip is part of the fun, we will stop along the way and do things.

When I get back, IF I can save up enough money, and have the time, I may fly back to Texas in early August for the big Quakecon lanning event which I haven't gone to in a couple years, but use to go every year when I lived in Texas. I've been missing it, and I have several friends whom I usually share a room with and we just have a great time lanning with about 3,000 other gamers.

Orbital lasers and mind control didn't work out in the end, but I got quite close with stealing all the toilet papers in the world and asking a big-ass ransom for that. Unfortunately, there were... unintended consequences with it that forced me to abort the plan.

This time I think I'm going with the Gummy Bears Project. Still working on the details, tho.

Of course it didn't work! Everybody knows the lasers need to be attatched to sharks. It is the nukes that need to be in orbit.

My plans:

Find an apartment or house in the DC area (probably a couple trips down there as well)

Go to Hershey Park for a BBS meetup if we ever get a date figured out

Spend as much time with my friends from the area while it's still summer and before everyone heads off to grad school/law school/foreign countries/real life.

Between that and work, it'll probably keep me pretty busy.

In July I am going fly fishing in Montana for four days. I have never been fly fishing with serious fly fishermen who know what they're doing--only with my brother and cousin nearly a decade ago, and we were drunk most of the time and resorted to trying to catch fish with a net.

Not a big fan of 'roughing it' either... but it should be fun. I was invited to go with a guy from work and some of his friends.

I can't escape the thought that there will be a wrong turn on the trip, or the natives will be unwelcoming - like something out of Deliverance. Okay, maybe that is going a bit far...

At the beginning of August I will be going to to Toronto for three days to attend a wedding, and at the end of August I'm off to Vancouver island for about a week, just to explore, relax.

More of the same old. Clubbing, drinking on patios, BBQs, golf ranges, cruising with friends, and just random chilling outside with friends. Gotta enjoy the warm weather as much as I can. Summer is waaay too short.

Maybe in July or August, I'll hit up the race track. I usually go once a year. My rear tires are kinda burned out tho. So I duno if that's such a bright idea haha

Well step one is pass my pharmacy technician exam which I believe I did.

Step two is do my 120 hour pharmacy technician externship.

Step 3 is do all the filing for my pharmacy technician license.

Step 4 is look for a pharmacy technician job after I receive my license.

As you can see not a lot of fun time this summer, but some important steps in my life.

Oh and unless I can convince my girlfriend that it is too expensive of an indulgence at this time I will be going to Comic-Con at least one day next month.

I'll be improvising. I haven't done much yet which is no good at all. I've been rather lazy these past few weeks which is unlike me.

No huge vacations this year, but I do have some fun stuff planned.

In July, I'm going to Milwaukee for a weekend for a friend's bachelor party. We're going to do a brewery tour and catch a Brewers game. Then a couple weeks later, I'll be heading back to the Chicagoland area for his wedding.

Then at the end of July I have a buddy who's coming home from Afghanistan for a month. I haven't seen him in two years, so it'll be fun to hang out. We probably won't do a whole lot, maybe try to go to a Cubs game.

Later this week, I'm actually heading to Cleveland with my mom to visit some random relatives. I'm not sure it's going to be the best time, but it'll be a nice little break from life.

I have nothing too terribly exciting planned. Going to a cottage in a few weeks, which I'm looking forwards to. A cousin is getting married in July. And I'll be going to a CFL game in Montreal in August, which I am rather stoked for as I've somehow managed to never see the CFL live.

We have allsorts planned at work so I'll be working my full contracted hours. I hope to be starting my NVQ3 coursework this summer as well. I have one week off in August but a family trip is probably out of the question because we're in the middle of house renovations and the cost is astronomical. But we live in a beautiful part of the country so it's a great place for day trips.

I bought a new BBQ last summer but the weather was so shitty that I never even assembled it. This summer I'll be BBQing even if it's another typically English summer. That's what umbrellas are for! :)

Work-related stuff, mostly. Too detailed to go into much detail at present.

Also, have a wedding reception to attend in London somewhere.

However, if by life or death I can go on holiday out of the country, then I will. :)
