Facebook Campaign for a New TNG Movie

So, I figured, how about I start a facebook group demanding that the Cast of TNG make a new movie. With the reboot of the franchise with the modern incarnation, Our favorite crew might never get a chance for a proper farewell on the big screen.

You want to launch a campaign demanding they make a new movie?

Demanding?!?

Strange way to word it. And, if it was to ever fall in the lap of anyone with any power at Paramount, unlikely to get a positive response.

Look, I would not mind a new TNG movie, but only if they had a really good story to tell. To do it just because the cast is getting old and there is a sense of desperation would be all wrong.

Edit: and I hate the idea of an animated series. Leave the children's cartoons to Star Wars.

While I like cartoons and am an Animator.... I agree.... let's not get into cartoons shall we?

TNG Was never really much on full on action based stories in the first place..... do you really think making a cartoon of a ST crew sitting in the briefing room talking to one another about morals this and justifications for that for 2-3 minutes each time will interest children, let alone the animators?

Hell they'd only have to hire one or two animators because they'd just have to go cheap like jap anime and animate mouths moving.

And let's face it, there are reasons why the original ST animated series didn't last very long (only one season) one of which was due to not being very popular among children.

I think made for TV movies could work though. Another factor is that the crew are getting older now. Most are nearly 60, and Sir Patrick Stewart is over 70. Even still, it may be a good opportunity to bring in crews from other series, especially DS9 (which I think deserves to be continued in some live-action form). A made for TV movie with all of the TNG cast, set at DS9 with some of the DS9 cast, would be good to see.

Exactly. Since they represent different timelines (the new movie and the original universe), there wouldn't be the case of the stepping on each other's shoes. And a couple of direct-to-DVDs, TV movies, and/or miniseries wouldn't lead to franchise fatigue one bit! They could co-exist with the new movie and it's assumed sequels.

'Jap'? (Come on now...)

Anywho....

I was a kid and enjoyed the ST animated cartoons, but I do agree an animated TNG crew just sitting around talking won't be appealing to kids (or even teens or adults)...

'Jap'? (Come on now...)

Come on now indeed... that was not an attempt to be racist or something, it was an abbreviation of "Japanese Animation" ie: Jap.Anime...... I was just too lazy to type it all out.

If you like, I could have just said JP.Anime, but figured the other abbreviation would have been better understood.
