What's your absolute favourite videogame ever?

Star Trek: Klingon Academy. I can't play it on my new PC, but it's still one of the most fun Trek games ever made.

Goldeneye

I also like the early Rainbow six titles, Mike Tyson's punchout, Link to the past and the gamecube remake of resident evil.

Hmm, possibly Thief 2. 10 years on and I still play it thanks to fan missions. Nothing like spending several relaxing hours knocking out every guard on a map, exploring every nook and cranny, and tracking down every single piece of loot! :D

Ugh, only one?

I guess it would be Persona 4 but theres a WHOLE lot of stuff nipping at its heels :p
Persona 3, Xenosaga III, and Final Fantasy X, and Zelda Ocarina of Time all come real close

Probably Ocarina of Time.

It's the game to which I measured all other games for a long time.

F.E.A.R

Played it on PC when it first came out knowing nothing about the game and OMFG what a ride :techman:. First time a video game I felt tried to get into your mind using a whole host of tricks, not too mention the action was perfect in the game.

the sequels have been nothing short of a letdown since but that original game is a horror gem.

I hate FPS's, but there are a few Adventure games I loved over the years.

1. Riven
2. Zork Nemsis
3. Grim Fandango
4. JourneyMan Project
5. Longest Journey

Sadly, the days of great adventure games have come and gone...

Hmm, tough to say. Probably a tie between Starcraft, Super Mario Kart (SNES) and Streets of Rage.
It's not really fair towards newer games, mind you, because all of the above have so much nostalgia going for them. If I had to name some of my favorite (somewhat) newer ones it would probably be Half Life 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Halo 3 and Tomb Raider: Underworld. I also liked Assassin's Creed a lot (haven't played 2 yet) but there were a number of things I found somewhat disappointing about it.

I actually thought FEAR 2 was pretty good. The expansions (which were made by a different team) were pretty shitty though. F3AR looks like it might be awesome
