    Re: Spy shows

Alias may not have been a big ratings success, but that doesn't mean it's okay to go ahead and re-make the show, especially so soon! I liked the original. Why not just create a random new spy show? I doubt it would be difficult.

Emmanuelle Vaugier is also on the show. Recurring character, I think.

I'm sure he's kept busy with theater productions.

He's also been Will's dad on Glee.

Not sure how I feel about ALIAS being resurrected. I loved the first two seasons, and slowly middled out on the rest. Granted, the series left wide room open for a renewal or continuation, so I guess as long as they stayed within the continuity of the show it would be fine? I don't know ... just seems rather pointless to remake the show, less than five years after it ended, and starting from the beginning. Then again, the major downside of this is you can't bring back Victor Garber or Ron Rifkin.

Maybe set the show in the near future and make it about Isabella?

As for the question about ABC 'bringing back the early 2000s' come on, melodrama much? Clearly it's a business decision for them, and apart from resurrecting pilots from the previous year that simply didn't get picked up, I don't know that I'd be complaining about a show people liked being brought back.

If anything, maybe we'll finally get Giacchino to release albums for the final three season soundtracks.

The whole remake thing has pretty much reached the level of self-parody. Pretty soon, the mid-season replacements will be reboots of the Fall season failures. :rommie:

And, anyway, the Rambaldi stuff was my favorite part of the show.

Yep. They remade the whole movie with an all-black (or mostly all-black, I haven't seen the re-make) cast.

reminds me of the Primeval S1 cliff hanger, where we find out that

Cutter returns to an alternate timeline, in which one of characters from S1 is not present. The actress would return in the 2nd series as a new character.

That Hulk sequel pulled the same trick, then again is Star Trek any better?

yes I saw Tracy Morgan promoted it on The Daily Show, and I remebered thinking "why has this movie only just got to the US, and I don't recall Tracy Morgan being in the promos for the original version.

Peter Dinklage has the same role in both films.

James Marsden was cast as the white guy engaged to Zoe Saldona's character and Owen Wilson was the white guy who wasn't over Zoe Saldona's character yet.

The rest of the cast was African American, includin' Chris Rock, Danny Glover, Ron Glass & Loretta Divine.

And it was written by the same guy who wrote the British original.

I saw it, thought it was pretty funny, but haven't gotten around to rentin' the original yet.

After the fan reaction to the finale, that would probably be a popular move. :D

I'm looking forward to that one because of Ion Bailey and Christopher Gorham. It debuts July 13! :bolian:

Actually I'm intrigued by the idea of an Alias remake. I loved the first two seasons of the show, then felt it went seriously off course in season three, and tried to limp back to greatness in the following seasons, with uneven success.

I would like to see another attempt at it, though it would probably be better to just rename it something else, or do it with different characters, in which it will essentially become something else anyway.

JJ already has Undercovers, which seems like it might be an Alias-type show, coming to NBC in the fall, and the CW has Nikita, which is based on La Femme Nikita, which will doubtless cover some similar ground as Alias did, and with a sleek, sexy lead in Maggie Q. I doubt an Alias remake will really get off the ground.

Only four years after the original ended? That is particularly stupid.
