Facebook Campaign for a New TNG Movie

I'd like to see animated adventures set in between the seven seasons of TNG, voice acted by the principals.

However, as far as live action films are concerned (and I count myself among the most rapid and geeky if TNGers) I would have to agree with others that another film wouldn't be good.

Sorry but I will add another no.

The family guy ep with the TNG cast was f-ing awesome, though. You should make one for that.

I'm with Rek. I can support more Trek in Family Guy. I can't support another TNG movie. They missed the mark way too many times to be given another chance.

I'd like a TNG animated series.

It seems to me that this is always a possibility.

Seriously. Let's look at the core points:

1. It does not and will not impede with any established continuity of the current Trek moneymaker, the JJ reboot film series.

2. The principal actors are all still alive.

3. Several of said actors have publicly stated they would be willing to revive the TNG ensemble.

4. The aging of the actors would not be a concern.

5. The budget would be minute compared to that of live action.

This is what we should be campaigning for.

I'd love to see a sequel to the reboot that has a time travel story that has the new Kirk and company meet Picard and his crew (who would have to get back together again, but that's not too hard.) Heck, throw in William Shatner too. And DS9 and Voyager! Okay, perhaps this is overboard. But really, in a sci fi universe where we've already rebooted thanks to time travel, anything is possible.

^^^That's great, but not many would agree with you.

I do, so start tallying them up.

The TNG movies were a lot more in-depth and more entertaining then most of the TOS movies, except perhaps Undiscovered Country.... but I suppose that's a matter for another thread.

I could maybe do with watching First Contact again as I haven't seen it in 5 or 6 years, but the others...no thanks.
And I grew up on TNG.
For me, I never liked Generations or Insurrection, as neither really ever added anything to the overall TNG story (Except perhaps losing the Enterprise D)...... but First Contact and Nemesis imo were solid for a number of reasons.

As it goes for making another TNG movie, I wouldn't complain, but I know it won't happen.

some of the reasons that pop into my head are:

• Data's dead and Brent mentioned that he's of course getting older and thus, trying to make Data look like he's not aging would be pretty difficult, unless they botox him like Arnold in T3 or CGI the character. (Not to mention he's dead and all that's left is B4)

• Most of the crew of the Enterprise we all grew up knowing have left the Enterprise, and as horrible were the random excuses for why Worf always seemed to show up back on the Enterprise in each movie, trying to make up an excuse for why everybody came back to the Enterprise would probably be pretty dumb, unless really, and I mean really thought through. Nemesis, while I felt it was a good movie, the Story itself was the death of the Enterprise crew as we knew them.

• Star Trek (The newest movie) already came out and is on DVD/Blueray as we type, which basically wiped everything the TNG/DS9/Voyager shows consisted of as we know them. Besides the fact that everything would be completely different then from what everybody knows, jumping from the new Kirk movie, back to TNG as if the new Star Trek was a blip, would not only be confusing to just about everybody, but most know that the new Star Trek is where the ST crew/writers/etc. are heading.

Added:

Oh and another thing:

Just because one petition worked out of billions that have never worked in the past, doesn't automatically mean this sort of petition would stand any chance of working, even if you had a pile of supporters.

Petitions are a lot like protests.... an excuse for a bunch of people to make a pile of noise and make themselves feel like they're doing something productive, but in reality, nobody else gives a damn, nor do many politicians or private businesses take them seriously. They'll do whatever they want, for whatever reason, regardless of what a couple of hundred people (sometimes even thousands) holding up $2 picket signs think.

Sure SNL "accepted" this petition about Betty White, but SNL is a crap show that lost any real sense of "Funny" years ago and will jump at any chance to get people to watch their show these days.

SNL is about as funny as David Letterman..... which is non-existent.

Wow I'm surprised how many people here are against it. It looks like everyone. I'm all for it. Sure they're older, sure the movies they did make weren't that great (First Contact notwithstanding), but I'm all for another one. Probably Titan would be better, it might not be a commercial success at all, but I don't care. I'd go in a heartbeat. TNG rocks

Exactly my thinking.

I'd rather see something along the lines of the Bruce Timm DC shows than a "Clone Wars" type CG affair, myself.

TNG animated! Easier for the cast and crew, can do all sorts of weird stories as the sfx is never limited.

I would much rather start a campaign for a serialized something. I don't care for most movies in general because of their very short length. I'd prefer a live action show set around the 2390s, and with keeping of the spirit and tone of the TNG era shows (none of the overly young, sexed-up characters common to so many tv shows today).

But I'd take serial story telling in any form, whether it's animated, audio, webisodic, or "super-official" canon books. In fact, I really wish there would be a series of canon books. That would practically ensure both high quality and high interest. Anyone else agree?

(Sorry to stray a little from the OP. I do in fact much prefer TNG show to the movies, btw)

Totally agree! I love the books (we should hike it over to the lit forum) because they're practically canon now. By that I mean they are serial, reference each other, and carry on the story arcs from before.

If by some chance it does happen, all I ask is that actors have NO SAY in the writing.
