Number One

It's an interesting idea to put Number One in the next movie in some capacity. Some have suggested perhaps she can be Captain of another Ship, etc.

I am not opposed to these ideas, but I'm not really in favor either.

One thing though, the character of Number One was never identified by name...So even if she is in the movie how will we know it's her? They're not going to call her "Number One the whole movie."

Seriously though, What should Number One's name be?

This is purely a hypothetical exercise. Serious ideas are welcome, but let's not forget to throw some funny ones in there.

I think naming her after Majel Barrett in some way might be nice. What are your thoughts?

Easy. Get the actress playing a blond Nurse Chapel to do a second role in the same movie, only with a dark wig and humorless disposition.

Number One has already been given numerous names in "fanon' and the licensed tie-ins, eg. Leigh Chapel, Timothea Rogers, Eure- (name unfinished in dialogue) Robbins, Commander Lefler, Diana Winters, and (perhaps!) the immortal Morgan Primus.

I don't think they should go out of their way but if they have a speaking part for Starfleet brass or Starship captain then they should use her instead of a random male captain or admiral like in the last film.

ST 2009's Admiral James Komack was a name from TOS. Not random at all.

Plus Pike's an admiral now so he can give the Enterprise orders if they need a flag officer.

Because she didn't dress him down and/or beat him around the head with a bony hand for being in Starfleet? She may be logical but there's always time to make someone feel inferior when you're a Vulcan.

I really enjoyed the Easter Eggs placed in the first film. However, I cannot think of any way to put Number One in the next movie. She will never be the first officer of Enterprise. Any other role would not be recognizable as Number One, since she had no onscreen name given.

Yes this was my issue as well. I guess it'd be nice to see her, but nobody will know it's her unless TPTB explicitly say "This is Number One" when they are casting the movie, and filming, etc.

I suppose they could use one of the names given to her in novels, but which one? And in that case only those who are familiar with the particular novel will recognize the Easter Egg. I don't really think it'd be worth the extra effort for TPTB. They may as well just put a random lady Captain in the background of a Captain Convention and say that number one was there, we just didn't know it.
