I rarely rewatch the movies, but watch the eps again and again.

I've seen STII more than any other movie on the planet over the years...has to be 50+ times...however, I've seen some episodes more than that.
STIII is my most watched Trek movie(40+), followed REALLY closely by I & II.
But certain OS eps beat that by a mile, most notably Doomsday Machine, Naked Time & Shore Leave...
Watching The Trouble With Tribbles as I type, heh heh.

The first step is admitting Trekaholism....:guffaw:

I love watching both the films and the series, but I think that the series have a slight edge. Perhaps there's more to choose from when watching the series. But like a lot of us I have all of the ST series which is nearly 700 episodes in compariso to only 11 movies so I suppose tha's the series get the edge.

I rewatched STTMP the other day for just the third time in thirty years. I was shocked at how it looked even more dated than the original series. From today's standpoint, the production values remind me of MST3K movies like "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" or "Parts - the Clonus Horror".

Beauty is clearly wasted on the Todd. Man, are you talkin' about the Director's Cut? No matter, the original is visually amazing as well. The only thing that dates the FX is visible matte lines. If you're talking the multi-coloured zoom to warp, it looked stupid to me even back in the day, just a bad choice IMO.

Please specify what you didn't like- I'm curious.:shifty:

Nothing specific I disliked, and I grant you that there are visually amazing moments, it's just that the overall feel to me after watching it again for so long just screams "circa 1980" to me.

And... TOS doesn't scream "circa 1967"?? :rommie:
Dude, of all the Kirk/Spock Trek, I would argue that that TMP is THE most era non-specific one.
Plus, when Spock travels through the V'Ger orifice (what a seminal metaphor), I'm just like, WOW!!!

TMP doesn't scream the 1970s to you? Uhura's hair is certainly of the period, more so, I'd say, than it is in the next five movies.

I watch the episodes way more than the movies. but that's 'cause I've got like, a regular viewing pattern. it works like this:

TOS, TAS, TMP, TWOK, TSFS, TVH, TFF, TUC, the TNG eps I can stand to watch, DS9, most of VOY, most of ENT, and then back to TOS.

I guess I'll fire up the old DVD player and watch TAS right now. :)

yeah, umm, good idea and stuff. TAS is really cool.

which episode did you watch?

"Parts - the Clonus Horror".

now that really sucked.

I tend to watch the various Trek shows more than the movies. I of course enjoy both the series and the films, but it may be just because there's much more to choose from. More than 700 eps versus 11 films?

I have always thought that Trek's first home is the small, rather than big, screen.

Like someone already said, it's easier to take a 45 minute break than a break of two hours. And yes, there's more to choose from, too.

Besides, I myself can easily have forgotten few episodes here or there and there are so many episodes I haven't even seen yet! So, I like watching the episdoes more.

I rarely watch an entire episode these days - usually it'll be a couple of scenes because I'm trying to remember or check up on something.

The shows I've probably seen most often and am most likely to watch are a few favorites - "Amok Time," "City On The Edge Of Forever," "The Corbomite Manuever," "The Doomsday Machine" and "Mirror, Mirror" come to mind.

How about the simple fact that the episodes are better than the movies. Much better. I, for one, would much rather watch City on the Edge or Arena than every movie. Well, possible exception for TWOK.

I love TWoK, but it doesn't at all remind me of the series. Way too militaristic, not so futuristic.

Whoa whoa whoa, 700??? I only own TOS 3 seasons, TAS, the movies and the Fan Collectives.;) I'd need to make twice what I do to get ALL of Trek!!!!

E-bay, Craigslist, Pawn Shops & newspaper classified ads are your friends! (I only bought one of the series and none of the movies via retail... all in _great_ condition and a whole lot cheaper than retail!)

re-watching all the eps on blu-ray now. have been through them with the new FX, (which I am generally disappointed in) and am now watching them with the original FX.

The use of the original 35mm film as the source (IIRC from one of the bonus features, the DVD release came from a laserdisk version.)and the cleanup of scratches, etc., has made the live action sequences the best they have ever looked.

Outside of TOS I intend to get the first three seasons of TNG. Then I'm done.
I may get TNG is they do HD versions of blu-ray, but I'm in no hurry. I've got Trek on blu-ray, which I consider the compete collection. The other stuff is just extra, mostly derivitive work created by other people which doesn't count.
