What is your fav under appreciated DS9 episode?

I liked it, as a fluff piece, up till the point where Worf became a domestic terrorist, and they treated it with all the gravity of not wanting to go walking on the beach, or complaining about the room service in a particularly obnoxious manner.

"Sure, you sabotaged an important public utility, inconvenienced and threatened the lives of millions of people, and threw in with crypto-fascists, but as long as you learned something about yourself, we can call it even."

It was the most brazenly ignored criminal activity of a main character in Trek since "Up the Long Ladder."

I love that ep too.
And to be fair, they explained why Worf is in no trouble: The Risians are happy hippies that don't prosecute. So if we had gotten a scene where bypassing tourists throw eggs at Worf, or at least some little sentence from Arandus like "...oh, and Mr. Worf, this is our most isolated beach. I wouldn't recommend visiting the others" would have been nice.

Apart from that, the episode is solid.

Starship Down - Everyone onboard the Defiant is engaged in something vital. We get a glimpse of Worf's command style. I enjoy the discussion between Sisko and Kira regarding why they're uncomfortable around each other if they're not discussing work.

A Civil Defense - Similar to the above in that everyone is engaged in an action that is vital to the overall story, except maybe Quark and Odo. Opens the door to the Dukat and Garak rivalry.

All the mirror universe episodes. I'm apparently the only person in creation who likes them.

I like them too, especially the last one ("The Emperor's New Cloak"), which is the most hated one of all for reasons I can't understand. I thought each one was an improvement over the previous one (although I never saw "Resurrection"). One of the reasons I liked "The Emperor's New Cloak" so much was because of the way it showed characters that had never been seen in mirror universe before being a part of it.

Mirror Ezri was great (the ONE and only time I thought the character showed ANY sex appeal) and the running gag of Rom (who I usually can't stand and find painfully annoying) being bewildered at everything in the mirror universe cracked me up. And the lesbian stuff was FUNNY too. Why anyone would take it seriously and find it offensive/insulting to their intelligence is beyond me.

Also, I still think "To The Death" is the best 'regular' episode of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". It gives all of my favourite characters a moment to shine and has wonderful dialogue and kickass action sequences. It has a lot more going for it than unusually graphic violence for Star Trek. It should have a reputation for more than that. The only DS9 episode I like more is "Trials and Tribble-Ations", but that's not a regular episode, it's more of a 'gimmick episode'. When fans are making lists of the best or most favourite episodes, I think "To the Death" is much more worthy of a top spot than the standards like "In the Pale Moonlight" and "Duet".

Nope, apparently its just you, me and Too Much Fun

From the episodes mentioned by others, I also love -

Babel, Move Along Home, Melora, The Sword of Kahless, Valiant, Statistical Probabilities, Life Support, Sons and Daughters, The Darkness and the Light, The Reckoning, His Way, Destiny,Once More Unto the Breach, The Assignment, Business as Usual, Change of Heart, Bar Association, Chrysalis, Take Me Out to the Holosuite, Once More Unto the Breach, Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang, Field of Fire and Chimera.

Okay, I admit it, I love so much of DS9, there are only a handful of episodes I don't like much and even then, I don't hate them, just dislike them a bit.

But seriously, It's Only A Paper Moon, Wrongs Darker than Death or Night, The Siege of AR-558, Little Green Men, Facets and Explorers are underappreciated? They're definitely some of my favourite episodes!

profit and lace. i like it funny. my favourite ds9 episode is 'the magnificent ferengi'. the briefing with brunt dropping in, and the disastrous training on the holodeck are the work of a genius.

If Once More Unto the Breach is considered an unappreciated episode, that would definitely be my pick. It's my favorite Klingon episode in all of Star Trek.

I think the overall story of reckoning was good. But the whole shooting energy beams at each other bit was rather lame in my opinion. A foreshadowing of the even lamer Dukat.

^ I didn't think much of the actual battle, but the prelude to it was good. From the reverb effect in Prophet Kira's voice, to the glass smashes and electrical blasts. Quite eerie.

The House of Quark

I'm a big fan of Quark and this episode helped to show him in a more positive light. He was always greedy but he overcame his failings on a few occasions which made him feel more real.

I find this episode hilarious and the scene where he's trying to go through the accounts with the klingon high council is one of the funniest in Trek history.

Agreed. This episode was never one of my most favorites, but it was entertaining, and like you say, has some funny moments.

For me, both Statistical Probabilities and Chrysalis are under-appreciated. I loved the Jack Pack, and I loved Bashir's interactions with them. And as a result, these episodes are some of the ones I reach for most often when I'm 'in the mood for some DS9'.

I also really like Resurrection. What can I say? I love Bareil....including Bad Boy MU Bareil.

I also really like Civil Defense and think it is underrated. I just think that it's an interesting situation.

I also agree about The House of Quark. As a CPA who has presented a ton of financial information to CEOs and Boards of Directors, I LOVE that scene when Quark goes over all of the financial information with the Klingons. I really felt for the guy...having been in that boat myself. I think that is one of the funniest scenes in DS9 - at least for accountants to watch.

The House of Quark is awesome, particularly the scene when Quark and [whatever the Klingon was called] are supposed to fight. I loved the way Quark gave Klingons a lesson about honor and courage.

I agree with civil defence. I loved the escalation of peril and the scenes between Garak and Dukat were really well done.
