Picard's a father

^ Quite right.

McCoy was born in the 2220's and lived to be at least 140. Picard, being born some 80ish years later, could be expected to have an even longer lifespan.

ETA: FYI, I was responding to Christopher's post, not saying that you were quite right to feel silly. ;)

No big deal, I figured you were responding to Christopher's post anyway. :)

Pretty much all the main characters from TOS have been shown to still be alive in the TBG era except for Sulu IIRC.

Re: The Borg - their Status

There's loads of potential in bumping-off-the-TOS-characters books.

It'll be like the Janeway fiasco times ten

Let the bodies hit the floor!
Let the bodies hit the floor!

There wouldn't be the temptation to bump them off if they hadn't been re-introduced in the first place.

I'd forgotten the Sulu reference but it's not a full on appearance like the other characters. It could still be someone else although that's unlikely.

People born in the 2220's are living to be at least 140 in the Trekverse. Picard could live for another century.

If I remember correctly Elias Vaughn is 101 when he joined the DS9 crew & President Bacco was about that same age when she was elected. If they are both healthy & remain healthy into their 120's why not.

Bacco was over 100? I didn't read Articles of the Federation, but at no point during Destiny did I get the impression she was more than (current day) middle aged.

^Yeah. Where does it say she was over 100:vulcan:? I know she's older, but I don't remember there ever being mention that she was into her second century...

According to Memory Beta, she was born in 2292, making her 80 in the post-Destiny timeframe. I don't remember the particulars from Articles of the Federation, tho.

I believe that 2382-2292 = 90, but I'm no mathematician .

As for Crusher's ability to bear children at age 56, the record age for a woman giving birth in real life is 70. The record for conceiving naturally, without in-vitro fertilization, is 59, though that may have been the result of hormone replacement therapy. So Beverly's about at the upper end of the bell curve for natural conception by present-day standards, making it plausible even before you take 24th-century medicine into account.

I have no doubt in my mind that 24th Century medicine would make it possible for Beverly Crusher to have a second child. The real problem for me would be believing she would actually want to have another child. It's a common attitude among the women I know that after a certain age (and if you already have children), most women are mentally over having their own babies, the focus shifts to Grandchildren.

^Yeah, but Beverly's first child has evolved into a higher order of life and gone off to explore other realms of existence, and rarely calls or stops by for holidays. She was lonely, and there wasn't any real prospect of grandkids.
