North America: No Who next Saturday??

Does this have something to do with next weekend being Victoria Day weekend? I ask because I noticed Space isn't showing Stargate Universe next week either.
SyFy always skipped "new" programming on holiday weekends. BSG, Who, etc.

According to the "This Week in Doctor Who" blog, Space is planning a marathon of some sort. I thought at first it might be a Doctor Who marathon because they're launching their four-nights-a-week reruns of the Eccleston and Tennant episodes at the end of the month, but I doubt it.
According to This Week in Doctor Who, BBC America will be preempting the show on May 29, so we're not going to be falling out of step with BBC America that badly as the two networks will synch up again for Amy's Choice. Only problem will be we'll now be an additional week behind the UK.
Apparently another preemption is expected in early July as the site anticipates a 4th of July Weekend preemption on BBC America and Space apparently is not allowed to air episodes before BBC America (yet obviously the reverse is not the case). The site predicts the finale will air on July 24 over here.

Isn't there also a Who-less Saturday in the UK coming up in the near future? Due to the Eurovision Song Contest? Or will Doctor Who just air earlier on that day?
Amen. Or even more recently when the CBC ran about 6 months behind and cut the hell out of the episodes. Or when Syfy didn't air the Eccleston season for about a year.
But it's still tough because it's so easy to stumble across a spoiler. For example, the ending of The Time of Angels was revealed to anyone who happened to come across media coverage (not just on fan sites) for the Graham Norton ad banner fiasco. And I just got spoiled regarding an upcoming episode plot on a site that has nothing to do with fandom. Not long ago we always had the option of simply avoiding places like TrekBBS and Doctor Who News Page if we wanted to not get spoiled, but for some reason this season it's almost impossible because of the amount of media interest in the show on both sides of the Atlantic. And it'll get worse as the finale comes and goes, I think.
At the rate they're going I half expect to see an episode scheduled at 2 PM one of these days.
Apparently the date shown on screen at the end of Flesh and Stone is supposed to be the date the finale airs, so unless they worked a skipped week into that, maybe they aren't going to preempt it this year (is Eurovision even relevant in this era of Idol and Britain's Got Talent?), or maybe the BBC plans to double-up like they've done with Torchwood in the past when they aired the first two episodes together.

In BBC America's case, Doctor Who is heavily touted as their most popular show. They treat it quite well, promptly releasing new episodes on iTunes and airing several episodes every day. They're probably more disappointed about skipping a week than we are.
Usually Space has their "Star Trek Movie Marathon" on Victoria Day weekend...maybe they'll skip it this time and we'll have a Doctor Who marathon instead.
Nope on both counts - Space appear to be showing movies throughout the whole Victoria Day weekend.

I'm glad to hear some people complaining about that. Why the BBC has decided to do that this year is puzzling. That and bounce it from timeslot to timeslot on a week-to-week basis. The Vampires episode apparently took a rather major hit in the ratings because of its early time slot. You don't suppose someone at the BBC has it in for the show, despite its popularity, and is trying to push it out? Shades of Michael Grade all over again. I recently read a claim that the infamous 18-month layover during Colin Baker's era, which was originally a cancellation, was not due to ratings but due to powers that be being of the opinion the BBC shouldn't be producing shows like Doctor Who. I hope that's not happening again.
Then again, the BBC, being a non-commercial network, could simply be assuming that everyone interested in seeing Doctor Who will just download the thing, so they're pushing them towards their iPlayer...
It must be also creatively stifling for Moffat and his writers. Not that I'd expect them to go into Torchwood territory with a later timeslot, but I would imagine they're forced to pull their punches somewhat with such an early timeslot. (That said, they did get away with "that scene" at the end of Flesh and Stone.)
Anyway, BAFTA just announced they're hosting a screening of Episode 12 (see my other thread for the episode title) on June 16, a few days before the episode's scheduled broadcast. So that supports the idea of Episode 13 airing on June 26 as per earlier indications, so no preemption.

No, that should be right. I remember it starting later than prime time here, about 9 pm, and we're 1 hour ahead of the UK. In 2009, I wondered why they didn't go the same route and broadcast Who earlier on that Saturday.
