"Titanic 2" direct-to-dvd sequel out August 2010

you guys appear to have forgetten, Raise the Titanic

But now you're making a cheap, tounge-in-cheek, "sequel" to a real disaster in which 1500 people died! Fuck. You.
isnt that true of any episode of any TV show which either spoofs the movie, or refrences the Titanic in its plot. for example:

Doctor Who - Voayge of the Dammed
Futurama - A Flight to Remember

Or, for example, Titanic...

Is Trekker being ironic here? I can't believe he really thinks that it is in worse taste to make a low budget movie about a major disaster than a high budget one, both had the main goal of making a ton of cash off a load of people dying. That would be pretty dumb. :vulcan:

which begs the question, should we not make movies about a time or event where lots of people lost there lives? should we not make WW 2 movies for example?

Its one thing to make a movie that is respectful to the event and the people who died, its quite another, to just make a second ship, and have pretty much the same thing happen again. Its like making a movie about a Hitler clone who trys to take over the world.

That's been done. Only it wasn't one Hitler clone, it was a lot of little Hitler clones. It was called The Boys From Brazil.

It was actually a pretty good movie.

I think I'll check this out. It'll be entertaining at least, which is more than I can say for Cameron's overwrought movie.

Here's a shot from Titanic 2:

Douglas Adams' Starship Titanic' for one
Voyager mentioned the liner in The Year From Hell.

mentioning it is one thing, but going to the trouble to build a 2nd ship called Titanic, is where it could become in poor taste.

TBH I am surprised Fry would willing get on the spaceship Titanic, talking about tempting fate, even more so when you consider Zapp Brannigan was piloting it.

So this is just about another ship hitting an iceberg? Since this is The Asylum, is the iceberg populated by bad CGI monsters?

Sounds pretty fracking stupid to me. I origigibally thought how could there be a sequel? The ship sank, so I thought it was going to be about the aftermath or something. Now you tell me it's a sequel by a different director and so on. Just sounds plain dumb. I don't think it's in bad taste or anything like that, just dumb.

It's not a sequel. It's from the studio that made Transmorphers, Allan Quatermain and the Temple of Skulls, The Terminators, The Day the Earth Stopped, The DaVinci Treasure, Snakes on a Train and a Sherlock Holmes movie with monsters.

They like to ride the coattails of big studio movies with their cheap, quick-turnaround knockoffs, and somehow people are stupid enough to believe that the movie with the cheap cover sitting at their local rental store with C. Thomas Howell as the lead actor is somehow the same movie as what's currently in theaters with Tom Cruise as the lead actor.

It just happens that the name of the boat is Titanic 2 which makes the title legally correct.

Asylum, I'll give you a pass on all of the crap movies you've made over the years. But now you're making a cheap, tounge-in-cheek, "sequel" to a real disaster in which 1500 people died! Fuck. You.

Why so sensitive? This disaster happened 98 years ago. It's not like they're shooting 9/11 Vs. Predator or Haiti II: Ready to Rumble.
