Iron Man Tuesday

Admiral James Kirk

Writer
Admiral
So this Tuesday the 90's Iron Man: The Complete Series series starring Robert Hayes and the newer Iron Man: Armored Adventures: Season One is coming out on DVD. Which would be the better buy?

The 90's Iron Man cartoon since Tony is an adult and they use traditional animation. Just beware though the first season is awful after that the second season however is very enjoyable the characters and dialogue are very similar to the movie.

The 1994 series went 2 seasons?
I don't recall that, I thought it was only one season that was split ala nuBSG

At any rate that is the one I'm going to buy in the next day or so. I've not seen teen Tony in Armored Adventures so not going to blind buy it.

That...is fucking...terrible.

Is that from the series that's supposed to be good? Unfortunately, I've never seen any of the animated Iron Man series.

Didn't like the 90s version. Mostly because like many 90s cartoons, they had to make everything so damn colorful, well beyond even the comic books of the time. And the animation was cheap by any standard. Thank god for 90s anime. ;)

Armored Adventures is actually quite good, once you get past the conceit of a teen Tony and how this played with the backstory. The animation is strong and consistent, even though Tony is quite a lanky kid. Hope he starts worknig out for the second season.

PS - yes, there WILL be an Iron Man anime. Looking forward to that too.

Yeah, it's from the 90s animated series that Admiral James Kirk is referring to. I like the theme. It's one of the few things about the show that's stuck with me over the last 15 years. I don't remember much about the show itself since I was a casual viewer and only saw a few episodes, but it seemed alright.

The 90s series is pretty awful and cheesy. The new version is better written and more realistic, but like the MTV Spider-Man series it betrays its source material to make things younger and hipper.
