The May 2010 issue of Maxim lists the Best/Worst reboots. Star Trek (2009) beat out Batman Begins and Casino Royale. It's on page 68.

So it's officially a reboot now, not a sequel or prequel. ;)

Cool. Although I wish they had done an actual reboot instead of time travel and alternate universe.

    I prefer the term flashsideways.

    I like to call it a pseudo-reboot.

That sounds like a nighttime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, fever, so you can rest medicine.

    Oh wait, that's Nyquil...

    It's a preboot. Or a requel.

We need a term with lots of hyphens, and maybe even a slash or two.

It's a reboot to anyone who doesn't know what a Horta is - and can name the episode in which it appeared, the famous line of McCoy's associated with it... ;)

:wtf: Then they don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Both Batman Begins and Casino Royale are far superior to Drek09 in terms of being reboots yet also as films.

OK, let me see if I absorbed any of the Trek lore my father tried to instill in me: A Horta is a silicon-based life form that appeared in the episode The Cloud Minders (I think) and McCoy's line was, "Dammit, Jim! I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer." Am I right? Its been a long time since I've seen any TOS.

"The Devil In the Dark", but otherwise, spot on.

Thanks! Don't know why that particular episode title came to mind, but oh well. I'm a geology student and a Horta is the closest thing we have to living rocks!

I'm more interested in the girl on the cover than what they think of Star Trek (old or new).

I'd say they know exactly what they are talking about: their personal opinions.
