Plot details for The Hungry Earth (SPOILERS!!!)

Amy doesn't remember the Cybermen vs Dalek war in "Army of Ghosts". Which means the Torchwood base in London was never destroyed and H.C. Clements is still a Torchwood front in Amy's reality.

It is very possible that in Amy's reality, the events of "Runaway Bride" never occurred. The Racnoss queen never attempted to revive her children, and never attacked London on Christmas day.

I think it's still the Doctor's home reality though. Churchill knows him, and he's referenced as having defeated all threats to Earth in The Eleventh Hour. So he hasn't gone to a parallel universe.

The way Torchwood made it sound, not many people knew about the Battle for Canary Warf and those that did thought it was some terrorist plot. Given that Amy was in a sleepy little village miles from London, there is no reason why she would be aware of the events at Torchwood One. Just because she doesnt remember the Daleks mass invasion of Earth in 'The Stolen Earth' doesnt automatically effect the events of 'Doomsday'

Hang on - the battle of Canary Wharf clearly *did* still happen as it's one of the events that the eye-spaceship things picks up from scanning earth's history. People are wildly leaping from Amy not knowing to nobody knowing and this being an alternative universe/changed history.

Not a good example - the Atraxi also displayed "Earth history" that either never actually happened on Earth or was erased, like the Hath in The Doctor's Daughter (takes place in the future and on Messaline) and the Reapers in Father's Day (occurs on Earth but is wiped from the timeline once Pete sacrifices himself).

Well a Hath was seen in the bar in End of Time part 2. Unless Crewman Alonzo ages much more slowly than humans, it could be argued that this scene was contemporary. So it's possible that there has been a Hath conflict on Earth that we just haven't seen.

What makes you think the new ones don't have a similar third eye? Especially since it's not really a third eye at all, but a separate organ all its own, which you can barely see on most animals that have one unless you look really, really hard.

Worst case scenario for me would be if they say something like the Silurians accelerated their evolution since the Doctor encountered them in Doctor Who and the Silurians, as that would contradict their appearance in Warriors of the Deep, set in 2084, many years after this story.

Different subspecies. Natch.

Or we only see the "third eye" when in use... ie that patch in their forehead starts glowing.

Do you see one?

Do you see one even up close?

Parietal eye
Another one
Or how about this "well developed one?"

Just because you can't see them very well (even up close), it doesn't mean they're not there. Hell, if they didn't glow or shoot energy beams originally you probably never would have even noticed them.

Those Silurians have helmets on... this has been known for a while.

I can't see any helmets and originally the Silurians used them to emit radition that enabled them to burrow though solid rock, so I can't see the use of a helmet.

They didn't explain why the Sea-Silurians (working title) looked totally different and had didn't have a third eye back in 1972.
The Earth Reptiles (good as name as any) are a number of related sub-species, with different looks, but a common culture (in the same way that Humans have a common culture... ie, sometimes not that much!). Similar, but varied, looks, like the big cats (I would say dogs, but as dogs have been bred into different varieties by humans that's not a good example).

The Sea Devils were called Silurians onscreen anyway, but I do think the Doctor did call them cousins of the Silurians. Still this story is supposedly set in 2015 long before their appearance in Warriors From The Deep.
