V sucks HARDER

I'm not quite sure why the sucks threads are in TV & Media.

But it's a good opportunity to declare a winner in the race to the bottom of scifi TV.

As near as I can make out, the people making this show thought the original series, as an antiFascist allegory, was too leftwing. So they demotivated their own characters.
We see people running around desperate to stop the aliens from doing, what? They don't even know!

Awful, awful stuff. There hasn't been a single emotionally engaging episode, not even the beginning.

Sorry, no coding in titles.

People know the aliens are up to no good because they've watched TV shows about it! :rommie:

...wouldn't it be interesting if the aliens really were here out of generosity and were confronted by human bigotry and fear? Perfectly plausible and far more interesting.

The Firefly bitch is just far too clichéd. I half expect her to wind up with a black moustache and see her twirling it.

I just cannot get engaged with this show and just have it playing in a corner of the screen while I do other things on the comp.

Maybe they should bring back Michael Ironside and that Marc guy with the neanderthal brow.

Thread Title Fail.

I haven't actually been watching V since it came back from its break, so I'm not up to date, but I wasn't finding it terribly engaging beforehand. I don't know what it is. There are certain things I like about it, but there are also things that bug me. I'll no doubt catch up on the episodes I've missed soon, and I'll probably give it til the end of the season, at least, but whether I carry on watching after that will depend on how I'm feeling after the finale. And whether it actually gets renewed.

You'd think Ryan would have some clue about what they were planning. Of course, you'd also think Ryan wouldn't be stupid enough to be hunting (all alone, with no one around or even knowing what he was doing earlire in the series) for a guy he, himself, killed.

So maybe all the Visitors are mildly retarded or something?

How about you stop accusing show of bias or political correctness or what ever.

It was bad enough when you did about BSG (in the process of clearly showing you utterly failed to under stand the show or it's themes).

I didn't even make it as far as the end of the first episode. What a snoozefest.

Ahh V. Great concept, shitty execution. They blew their load way too quick. They should of waited a little while longer to reveal that the aliens were really evil space lizards.

The only problem with that is that anyone with even a passing familiarity with the original 1980's series is already aware of the Visitors true appearance. IMO drawing it out would be pointless and there would be no real dramatic benefit--except to those who are checking out the series with absolutely no knowledge of the original.

All that being said, I'm still watching V but it's not great--I would be shocked if they managed to get a second season.

maybe they should of just remade the mini-series. Iiirc the mini did very well in the ratings but then when they went to a series it sunk like a stone.

My attitude towards V is like my attitude towards Heroes, which amazingly has a better chance of returning next season than V does. :rommie: If they cancel it, they'll just replace it with a show where people eat bugs. What's the use?

But if John May killed Original Ryan and absconded with his human suit - the perfect disguise - then it all makes much mores sense, huh? ;)

Then everyone would be bitching that the show is too slow and it's obvious the aliens are evil space lizards so why don't they get on with it?

Maybe I'm alone, but I like V.
You're not alone. My girlfriend, my dad, hell, everyone in my family loves it. I can't stand it. I quit watching after the first episode.

It's like they looked at the original and said, "The b-movie lizard invasion is great, but this other parable stuff, let's get rid of that and do more invasion! And let's take what they did in the first two hours of the original and cut it down to five minutes so we can get to the good stuff!"

Meh. Not my cup o' tea.

I haven't watched it in the last couple weeks, eh. A part of me wants to, but a part of me...is just realizing what some are saying, I loves me some Moreana Baccarin, but the characters...blah.

Also, I don't know why, but I still find it amusing that the US government required extraterrestrials to acquire passports before visiting the country.

There's no way for that to make sense. If it was a recent event (after Ryan found Mays earlier in the series), then he wouldn't be more interested in Ryan's girlfriend than his own family. Nor would he have to try and figure out where he, himself, had hidden the communication device.

If it happened in the distant past, then it still doesn't make one bit of sense that he'd be hunting for himself earlier in the series. There were like two or three episodes of him trying to track Mays down before he hooked up with the rest of the cast.

They should have made the visitors humans from the future or an alternate reality or shapeshifters or anything other than secret lizards who've all developed a human-furry fetish.

Seriously, how can a lizard be attracted to what for them is a fucking halloween costume?

And they're developing emotions (nice emotions) because why? Halloween costumes are changing millions of years of evolution that made them emotionless walking, talking lizards?

And the US won't stop people crossing the Rio Grande but it'll force pretty human-aliens to apply for Visas?

God, this show blows.
