The Interpretation of Dreams Thread™!

I had a strange dream about economics. This was an idea dream rather than a story dream. I don't have many of these. :)

Whether it has any meaning or not I do not know, but the idea that formed was this:

1. That an economy is naturally inclined to self stabilize, by which I mean that every thing gradually finds it's true value, as is reflected in human factors such as need, demand, rarity, human effort, use of resources, environmental damage, etc.

2. As an economy stabilizes, it becomes a balanced "game", in the sense that all "players" can compete fairly.

3. As the economy becomes fairer, it drives the Nash equilibrium down to less and less successful outcomes.

4. If people then interact with an economy non-cooperatively, they will be drawn to that Nash equilibrium, which will cause a decreasing overall prosperity in correlation with that increasing stability.

5. If that prosperity drops too low, the economy is deemed to be failing, when in fact it may simply be an indication of its balance. The low prosperity is really a direct symptom of the non-cooperative elements.

Then the dream switched to me feeling that someone famous had died, and I woke up... so it's 7am on a saturday, and I'm wide awake.

edit: After falling back asleep I had another dream this morning...

The bbs introduced a new feature that gave us good or bad points for different things we did. I remember there were (bad) narcissism points for viewing our own profile page, (bad) paranoia points for viewing who's online, (good) board user points for making posts, and (good) revenue points if adverts were displayed correctly; bad points if they weren't.

Now, most people loved this feature, and enjoyed comparing with others how they scored in each category, what their own overall score was, and where they were on the points ladder...

... except for Holdfast. He wrote pages and pages of angry sounding posts in QSF of how he didn't like the idea. Each a good screen filling wall of text.

One of us then pointed out the irony that he was one of the few board member with a positive score, and was at the top of the ladder. (his score was something like 1394+ 12-, whereas most others scores were -12000 or something). He replied with one short post "Now I like this feature."

I think the dreams are telling you to stop worrying and have fun at the seaside today... before it's too late. :)

I had a dream last night too (must be something in the air last night.... possibly volcanic ash). It wasn't much of a dream, but I remember snippets of it, involving myself wandering around a park on a cloudy and overcast day, towards the late afternoon and evening with rain about to settle in. In the park there was possibly some gathering of people, possibly people I had known before from my past and present - old school and work friends, other, um, acquaintances) and I also remember that my father was there in my dream, by my side all the time. One of the people there was a girl I hadn't seen in years - a girl, as it happened, who was my first school crush. I pretended not to notice her, and hoped she would notice me, even to the point of trying to walk to another part of the park and occasionally glance in her direction. Nothing much else hapened, really.

I had a dream I was at some tropical bar and playing poker with some wealthy guys...these 2 really hot young ladies were playing and drinking alot...they lost all this money and had to use rent money to pay up...I guess I felt bad and gave them the money they lost plus more...I was fixing them drinks while the crowd seemed to disappear...the funny thing the bartender didn't mind me going behind the bar...anyway...I talked to them about alot of stuff...most of which is a blur now...I ended up inviting them back to my house...things get fuzzy from there on out and I woke up.

Are people not dreaming anymore?

I dreamed I was Superman...well it was my face and the superbody(?) in the costume of course and I was looking for a girl I was in love with...mind you I have never seen this girl before but I had memories of her...it is pouring rain and I am looking everywhere...I end up at this tower...owned by Madonna and I stop my search for the girl and go give Madonna a piece of my mind about not liking a certain lyric in a song...when I confront her I am no longer upset but acting like a typical lovey fan...after that things get blurry and last thing I remember is being in Home Depot looking for paint colors???

Are people not dreaming anymore?

I've been stressing out over finals, and I don't recall dreams as well when I'm stressed.

I did have an interesting experience the other night, though. I had a final to take Thursday morning, and in the early morning hours, I had this dream about taking the final exam. The details were a little fuzzy, but I remember being confused when my alarm rang because I was certain I had already gotten up and taken that final.

I had a dream that my son was going to America to spend time with his father. This wasn't one of my real life sons, this one only existed in my dream. It seems that his was an American sailor I had a brief fling with while his ship was visiting Hobart.

My son had bought his plane ticket to Los Angeles but I was asking him how he planned to get from Los Angeles to Galverston, Texas which is where his father lived. My son had no idea how far Texas was from California, he thought it was nearby.

I was on the net trying to find the cheapest way for him to travel to Galverston. I was looking at flights, train and bus timetables. I was annoyed ay my son because he wouldn't phone his father for advice. That is where the dream ended.

I had another recurring dream last night about me being in Las Vegas with family members. It felt so real, as I dreamt that I stayed in a hotel room with my older brother and sister. I went out for a walk, but it didn't feel like the Strip. I went to a mall of some kind that had an arcade of sorts, instead of a casino with slot machines and such. I came back to the hotel and asked my brother why he hadn't gone out to enjoy the scenery. I asked how long we wanted to stay thee and when we were going back home. My brother said "on Wednesday" and it was only Friday night, so better make the most out of it. Again, there was a sense of urgency in that dream. I'd go there again if I had time.

A dream a coworker had that she told me about...

She was in a crowded room, but she was talking to me. At some point in the conversation I got this look in my eyes, and she could tell that I was then possessed, and so I began to chase her with a shotgun.

Yeah, people dream of me as being controled by demonic spirits and chasing them with deadly weapons. Nice

so neat dream metal pants :)

I had this dream that sorta woke me ,,,

bush was still president (LOL)
and i had to watch him talk to his dad all day about what his dog was doing while his dog was staying with his father. The president was courteous and keep talking to his dad all day while all that was discussed was what the dog was doing.,

what does it all mean?

__________
During the journey the sky is as solid as concrete, sorta.

I had this scary dream last night. It felt like I was watching a movie or TV show, but I was also a part of it as I was afraid for my life.

The plot was similar to those post-apocalyptic films like I Am Legend, and I can't quite remember if there zombies or vampires or both. There was some kind of a viral infection that turned people into bloodsucking vamps or flesh-eating zombies, but a group of us was trying to find a cure, and at some point my co-worker had gotten blood stains on her clothes and it was only a matter of time before she or the rest of us were infected, too.

The dream was changing, and I felt I had some control over it, but it kept redirecting to the vampire/.zombie plot. One of the group members was Matthew Fox from Lost, and he tried to do something heroic by going into a subway full of vampires, hoping to accomplish something, and one guy was very frustrated. It was revealed that six million people were still infected and needed the cure.

The dream's continuation had a bit of a homoerotic ending. As the heroes successfully completed their mission, they met with each other in different places. Two of them were very handsome and sexy guys who had bareback sex with each other. In fact, I had a mobile device with 3G access that enabled me to download/stream the rather explicit video.

Oh, my!

Yesterday I started reading Wizard's First Rule. Then last night, I had a dream partially based on it (or what I've read of it so far).....but also partially based on Doctor Who.

The parallels to WFR were subtle and I didn't actually realize them until I woke up. It sort of put Sarah Jane Smith (as she was in the 70s) in the role of Kahlan Amnel, and Richard Cypher was there, but I think it was set on a space station. Oddly the Doctor himself didn't show up, but the Brigadier did, briefly. There were these "judgement tanks" that you had to go through to get out, and you could either sink or float, except that didn't seem to matter---either one could get you through safely or....not. It was strange.

And did I mention? The dream even had serial cliffhangers. Every time something major happened, the Doctor Who theme started to play and the credits roled, then it skipped ahead and kept going....

Today I had a dream about being in school, this was very strange...usually I end up lost in the dream and can find my way around...in this dream I easily found my way around...but the classes were chaos and stuff going on in each room didn't make sense to me...to I went from one class to the bathroom where I found myself guarding a Playboy magazine...every time some one came in they asked me to see it...this one person got angry because I would let him see it and I ended up slamming his head against the wall...and knocked him out...but he got up and I ran...by the way Heidi Montag was on the cover...and I have never seen her before. :shifty: Anyway I was running down this hall and cut into another hall where a band was playing...it was Kittie But at first it was old Kittie like in the video on the link...then it was new Kittie and the old bassist Talena was playing with a different band...I walked over to see something that was written. The music they were playing sound like Black Sabbath and the singer sound like John Lydon it was odd...I walked back to where I was and Talena fallowed me and made sure I wrote down the word and talked to me about her band...I woke up after this.

I have fuzzy memories of a dream from last night. In my dream, I was working with Agent Callen from "NCIS: Los Angeles" and while he was busy, I raided the evidence locker for lipstick.

I have no freakin' clue.

I had a great dream last night. I dreamed I was watching one of those American blues musicians on stage in a concert, playing one of those makeshift fuzzy guitars that look like something made in a garage on a Sunday afternoon, and thinking to myself, "I want one of those." Upon closer inspection, the guitar was small, had 5 strings, and was tuned to all perfect fifths - and I thought to myself, "I could actually play that and sound good with it." I eventually got hold of such an instrument, and started playing it during the rest of the dream.

I had a dream today that Wonder Woman(Lynda Carter) was saving me from some scary situations. She looked great in the dream. One situation involved an angry crowd...she came out of no where and whipped her lasso around and the crowd went away. I even got a hug. :) In my dream she feels great.

I had a dream about our very own Zion Ravescene last night. :)

He sent me a very poor quality photograph of something he had made, and he wanted me to go and see it. The photo was so poor that I couldn't tell what it was. It looked vaguely like a dark brown wall.

Anyway, I saw as I was approaching that it was a little castle he had built on unclaimed land in front of his house. It was four brown walls about 1.5 metres high, and built about 3 metres square. It was constructed with large blocks of stone, each about 50cm long and about 30cm high and deep.

I distinctly remember the top row of stone was darker and slightly bigger.

Then I looked up and saw ZR sat on the roof of his house, in a lotus position and facing the sun.

Once he noticed I had arrived, he came down and showed me around the castle. He said he had built it all himself by hand. I was amazed how straight and perfect it was.

There was a little orange machine on the back of the castle for lifting people in or out, and it had a gauge (-5 ... +5) to specify if you like to be lifted with your back straight, or tilted forwards or backwards. I chose +2 meaning a little forwards. Zion insisted on zero for himself saying that backs should be kept straight :)

Once we were both lifted inside the castle, he said something about 'survival', and 'being fit enough to live in a frog environment', whatever that means? Sounds swampy

Woe Jadzia you might be at these boards a bit too much if you get dreams about the characters here and such ? I used to get dreams about my fellow simmers but that is all but over now. should I try to get those dreams back? I don't know, but I guess it can't hurt - maybe?
