Are we alone in the Cosmos? The Bible vs Evolution...

It seems to me, as pointed-out in my original post, that 160,000 years, or even doubling, or quadrupling that number, is not enough years to go from feces flinging apes to spam flinging internet posters.
Why not? It took FAR less time than that from throwing pointy sticks to hand grenades. The difference between feces and BBS flamebait is not even that extreme.

We are alone as we are the first race and we will someday populate the universe.

I tend to agree with this but with the slightly more tempered "we will someday colonize planets in nearby star systems."

Indeed.

To say that we are the 'first race' is presumptuous at best (plus a bit arrogant when we take into consideration the overall age of the universe, and billions upon billions of galaxies in the universe ... a lot of which contain worlds similar to Earth, and who knows what kind of 'intelligent' [as we define the word] life can evolve in what type of environments).

I don't think you should use familiarity with the subject to breed contempt. If we could see into the future and the question is asked "what is the most amazing thing created by the Milky Way?"; there is every chance that the answer will be homo sapiens.

As large and varied as the Universe it, I have serious doubts that Homo Sapiens are the only sentient life or that Earth is the only planet with any type of life.

Every single "Born Again Christian"...Those who have literally "Accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior" (Maybe that's the way to put it, more specifically.), that I've ever spoken too, believes the bible is literal truth, the world is only 6000 years old, God created the heavens and the earth in 6 24 hour days, and then rested on Sunday, and man walked with the dinosaurs.

I would say then that your pool of available "Born Again Christians" is very small, or you live in an odd part of the country, or you have a specific, rigid definition of what a "Born Again Christian" is that one who does NOT believe in a Young Earth would not count in your eyes as a "Born Again Christian".

Keep in mind, though, that in most parts of the country there's a really big difference between "Christian" and "Born again Christian." The "Born Again" movement is a sales pitch for the Evangelical movement, of which Young Earth Creationism is a significant (and highly influential) subset. It's not the kind of crap you usually hear from, say, Methodists or Catholics, but mostly Evangelicals and southern baptists hold this as an article of faith at least as important, if not more so, that the divinity of Christ.

Yes...I was speaking of "Born Again Christians"...I should have made it more clear.

Did I miss something here? :wtf: You cite that every single Born-Again Christian you've ever met is a young-Earth creationist ... after excluding anyone who isn't a young-Earth creationist from your definition of Born-Again Christian. What a surprise! :techman:

BTW, I'm a Christian who has accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior, but I do not believe in a Creation of 6 24-hour days, a 6000-year-old Earth, or a global flood.

Feel free not to count me, but then I'm not sure what it is you are counting. :vulcan:

The answer could just as easily be tribbles, though. It sort of depends on your definition of "amazing."

Humans never cease to be impressed with themselves, so if you ask US that question we will obviously vote for ourselves. Other races--even right here on Earth--might not agree.

If we could see into the future and the question is asked “what is the most amazing thing created by the Milky Way?”; there is every chance that the answer will be homo sapiens.
Presumptuous much? For all we know, there are species out there that compare to Homo sapiens as we compare to bacteria.

Did I miss something here?
Clearly you did. You missed this:

BTW, I'm a Christian who has accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior, but I do not believe in a Creation of 6 24-hour days, a 6000-year-old Earth, or a global flood.
Then there's a 90% chance you are not a BORN AGAIN Christian.

(And apparently there's a 10% chance that I am. :p)

Okay, so? What does that have to do with anything? The post in question was a direct response to The Habs Fan, who wrote:
Not everyone who believes in God and the Bible are Creationists.

Both of you, newtype_alpha and Rack of T'Pol appear to know the difference between "everyone who believes in God and the Bible" and Born-Again Christians specifically. So, I would like to ask Rack why those examples are important.

All kidding aside, it's not as if we've really outgrown or ignorant monkey past. We're just smart enough to pretend we've outgrown it while repeating more or less the same primitive behaviors on a massive scale in ever more sophisticated ways.

This made me crack up because it's soooo true :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:
