Well, I tried, but then it was actually still £30, and this weekend they're "reducing" it to £25, but I'm going to go into town on payday and see whether CEX have a cheaper second-hand set...
I actually need to go buy season two on blu-ray. It's the only season I don't have and I haven't seen an episode since I first caught it in reruns about two years ago. It'll be almost like watching it for the first time.

This must a pretty far-back flashback with the old computer and record deck - on, a boom, this is inside the hatch! (confrmed a few moments later). Who is this guy, then? Quarantine, eh?
Jack's flashbacks- hm, isn't that his fiancee? I guess this is how they met... But screw that, what the sodding FUCK is that on his head? He didn't have a loopy wig like that in his flashbacks last season! Her previous fiancee's a twat as well.
Has Walt been possessed by the aliens from Waters Of Mars, then?
Hurley is right- Jack's bedside manner sucks.
What's the problem with the lack of ladder in the hatch? They're in a bloody jungle- haven't they seen a Tarzan movie? There must be creepers and lianas and stuff around! As for Locke, not wanting to do more waiting- when he does his speech about going down the hatch not necessarily being right, why doesn't he just say outright "I'm going anyway because I'm having bloody fun here! My own jungle adventure like I've always wanted!"

The Scottish guy jogging at the stadium is familiar - what have I seen him in before? Ah... so he's Desmond. I know there's a regular by that character nowadays, so I assume he's the guy in the hatch in the teaser.

Overall this is a great start to the season - it feels like (apart from Jack's flashback wig) there hasn't even been a break between seasons. I don't just mean cos it's only been a few weeks, but the storyline follows on perfectly. It just feels like the next episode in an unbroken run.
It's great to be back on the island! (and I know where I can get season 3 for a tenner, so no bloody waiting, I'll do that now to be on the safe side...)

Trying to stay spoiler free is tricky when even the bloody back of the DVD cover is giving shit away like nobody's business...
This is one thing I really like about Lost. Most of the season finales/premieres are like this.
In one case for season 1, they even got it wrong...
The opening scene was inspired. Everyone wanted to know what was in the hatch, and everyone expected them to wait until the end of the episode to show it, so instead they showed us everything in the hatch within the first minute. They tried to open each season with one of those WTF moments but, in my opinion, season 3 was the only one that came close to this one.
That was a great moment. My girlfriend gasped after the boom when she realized it was inside the hatch.
Some numbers in the episode:
Jack says there are 4 guns left.
Sarah says her wedding is in 8 months.
Adam Rutherford, the man Sarh hit, died at 8:15 AM. (BTW, doesn't that last name sound familiar?)
Sarah has 8 stitches on her cheek, 4 on her head, and three on her nose, which total 15.
Now that's what we want to hear.
Whatever you do, when you get season three on DVD, don't read the episode guide booklet that comes with it. It shamefully spoils what's probably the biggest WTF! moment of the entire series in the season finale.
