Star Wars or Star Trek

I like to take Star Wars out for wild nights of unchained passion, but I'll always come home to Star Trek in the end, especially now that PT, which was always more eye candy than good where it counted, is becoming all clingy, throwing its animated spinoff at me and threatening to settle down on TV. Forget it, honey. I'm a Trek man.

And then there's JJ's Trek XI - the best Star Wars movie in decades. :)

This is an interesting question that I have never considered/come across before.

Hmm, I must give it some serious thought.

Given how desperate J.J and co. were to turn Star Trek into Star Wars, i would have thought more people would have answered Star Wars.

My own vote goes to Star Wars, i just enjoy the films more and the EU is mostly superior to Trek's tie-in media.

Star Trek. More substance...less flash.*

*this statement does not include most of Voyager, all of Enterprise or the movie titled "Star Trek".

Just to give reasons why I love Star Trek over Star Wars, because I feel that would have been helpful in the first place instead of some moronic comment about Lost in Space.

Star Trek actually has characters that I identify with, and they seem so much richer than the Star Wars characters. The characters in Trek are far more three dimensional and at least to me represent actual characters instead of being symbols.

Star Trek for the emphasis on the characters and not the events,.

Star Wars for John Williams and of course Darth Vader in the O.T.

But honestly, while comparing the two is fun you have to realize that Roddenberry and Lucas had two different goals in mind while creating their respective franchises. And another thing to take into consideration is that with very few exceptions none of the actors in Star Wars had a chance to develop the characters over the course of a lifetime like the cast of Trek.

It's like comparing Apples and Oranges.

Seems kind of obvious, on a Star Trek board. Ask the same question at theforce.net and I'm sure you'll get the other answer.

If it wasn't for all the prequel movies and expanded universe, I'd have said Star Wars. However, even with the likes of Enterprise and Voyager, Star Trek just seems to have a greater average standard.

No Jar Jar Binks, Ewoks or Holiday special either

I don't really care for either honestly, but counting the new movie I'll go with Trek.,

You don't like Star Wars or Star Trek? What are you doing here?:wtf:

He likes science fiction, which this site has a decent CASUAL community for.
