New Look Daleks Revealed

Though the black bit that the sucker and gun stick are attached to seem rather oversized. Could just be the camera angle though.

People who've seen the previews are insisting it is, saying from that eye-level or above it actually makes the design look quite menacing.

The new eyestalk - not anchored in a box to the dome - looks like it could potentially give the Daleks a wider field of vision without having to rotate the dome.

In the show it's just white.

Not according to people who've seen the Preview DVD.

And they also say that these are somehow supposed to be
the real Daleks and all the ones we've seen since the series returned weren't.
Which is a pretty big "Fuck You" to RTD if correct.

Don't care about "fuck you" to the RTD era, but if they try to have that design as the "real" Daleks... it'll be the first downside to the Moffatt era, cos it looks shit. (Well, by "real" I mean "used from now on" - I could see ways in which this could be meant to be, say, a city-bound one from The Dead Planet which the rest of them will now venerate as some kind of sacred leader. But if this design is going to replace the NSD... utter shit.)

ETA- um, second downer, after the shit version of the theme tune.

Then again, if by "those who've seen the previews" you actually mean "those who claim on GB/OS to have seen the previews and who can't be challenged there because that's not allowed" then there's still hope that it may all be bollocks...

Going by what they've been right about before it's more like "people on GB who are getting an unusual level of access to stuff (far beyond what people managed when RTD was in charge) in return for going online and hyping the crap out of it".

Or maybe that's just my suspicious mind at work...

Then I'll be glad this is a forum where one is allowed to say it looks shit.

*Shrug* They look like daleks to me..

They look ok I guess. Sort of a chunky version of the design from the first two dalek serials.

I'm kinda glad they have changed them. As much as I like the standard gold dalek design used since RTD revived the show, I had grown a bit sick of them.

Now what I really want to know is: how can those war Daleks get to the contents of the bags on their belts?

I don't mind the bright colors, but the middle part does look a bit odd. I'm sure I'll adjust though.

And why the heck did they keep the bathroom plunger? If they're going to redesign everything, might as well give them some pincers or some other kind of cool arm attachment too.
A Dalek without a plunger isn't any kind of Dalek I'd want to see.

Well obviously this is the 'restoration' referred to in the next week preview.

There've been occasional variations with claws instead of plungers since the Dalek movies, and they've appeared on nuWho as well.

Thats right. As well as saws, cutting torches, and I believe a flame thrower.

Still looks essentially like a Dalek to me. The Daleks are an intelligent species, so they're certainly allowed to give themselves a bit of an upgrade. Maybe they have anti-lock brakes now too.

There's a problem with the electronics, though. Toyota's recalling the lot of 'em.

The plunger arm or gun could ba a multi tool/weapon thing not to disimilar from the Terminex's arm in T3 or how the modern cylon's had tranforms to a gun.

I want one of those "To Victory" Dalek posters I saw in the trailer. Come to think of it are there any wallpaper options at all on the BBC's Doctor Who site?
