So, there are some serious facepalm moments in Voyager (as there are in all Trek series and movies). Some are more obvious than others. One that really struck me was the following: "Think Tank" "All we have to do now is... out-think the think tank." - Janeway "Warhead" "Assemble the staff. We're going to find a way to outsmart a smart bomb." - Janeway "False Profits" "We have to out-ferengi... the Ferengi." - Janeway Then, of course, you have "Threshold" with the lizard babies. "Tattoo"... pretty much all of it. "Year of Hell" was an excellent two episode arch, but I think there's a major facepalm moment because none of it actually happened. Also, "Time's up" was a little too cliched. How about it? What were some not so obvious facepalm moments that you noticed as you enjoyed the show?
Every time Seven of Nine said "I am Borg," some modification of "Resistance is Futile," or any other Borg colloquialism immediately after some personal gambit to reclaim her lost humanity I face palmed. In that same vein "You are hurting me," "You will adapt," was equally... *bright red mark on forehead* We get it! You were a Borg! As if the cybernetic implants and bright silver moon suit weren't enough... Gawd. It kind of reminds me of Rudy Giuliani constantly making reference to 9/11. We get it! You were a Borg! As if the cybernetic implants and silver moon suit weren't enough... -Withers-
^^ Yes! Along the same lines, and I can't think of a specific example, but several times she says "so and so is irrelevant", when it is in fact something that is not at all irrelevant. Drives me nuts.
(At the risk of upsetting anyone who thinks this has been done to death.) ;-) When Kathryn interrupted a perfectly good neck massage.... to go to bed.... alone!
When Kathryn didn't kiss Seven in that shuttle after convincing Seven to let the forcefield down. (I gotta throw one in for my team. )
Deadlock The critically damaged Voyager survives. Next episode Voyager looks fresh out of space dock.
Everytime there's a major attack on Voyager. "We need blah blaha balh..." But later, we see the ship sparkling new! Wat? Everytime Seven said something Borg-related. It was fine for three episodes. It got boring after the fourth. It got annoying after three seasons. Some parts of "Tattoo," "Threshold," and I swear my forehead was red after "The Fight."
The ending of Alliances. The Trabe being untrustworthy invalidates Chakotay's argument, even though it doesn't.
Hey, that's a fun drinking game. Everytime Seven "found her humanity" only to lose it again the following week.
I have another one... Anytime the EMH decided to sing, it was an absolute facepalm moment. The only exception is in "Someone to Watch Over Me". That is the only time I didn't cringe when Picardo opened his mouth to sing.
Stumbled upon these from Equinox: RANSOM: We travelled over ten thousand light years in less than two weeks. JANEWAY: I'm afraid I'm not going to be very receptive this time, either. It's an interesting idea, but the Ankari are fifty light years in the wrong direction. So, ... Either USS Equinox clocked 10,000+ lightyears in a slowly expanding spiral so that they were only about 50 lightyears when they reached the end, or ... the Ankari have a spacefaring civilization that spans more space than the Federation. And yet there was nothing said in the first part of this episode that suggests the Ankari had ever left their homeworld, and much implied to refute that. I facepalmed at the inability to remain consistant within the same episode.
