Haynes Enterprise Manual? ... Part Two...

Perhaps, if We buy large numbers of Their First Trek endeavor, They will see the profitability-light-of-day and produce a second manual of the Classic Lady.

Oh, by that time the next movie will be on the way and if they've made a lot of money on this they'll be far more interested in tying into that.

It's been asked and answered - people need to keep up.

Has it? All they've said is that a manual on the USS Enterprise is in the works. The recent press release from CBS said that Mike and Denise Okuda will be involved, and they had absolutely nothing to do with JJ's ship. They did have a hand in some of the others, though.

So, who's to say, definitively, which ship is going to be featured? They could very well be thinking of doing a series of manuals for each ship, starting off with the one most folks are familiar with (which, sorry to say, Dennis, ain't JJ's).

What I read said essentially exactly that, "(that is multiple Enterprises, although which ones is still being decided)".

Picking up on a couple of things...

Yes, my read on the article was aso that Van Citters is referring to the Abramsverse as the "alternate universe", not the Primeverse. But his whole discussion at that point was about the revised publishing plan for Abramsverse material.

Interestingly, too, the TrekMovie description of the Haynes guide suggests that it would include multiple Enterprises. That's actually pretty smart, so they could reach multiple submarkets of Trek all at once.

Best,
Alex

^^ Wouldn't that be a kick in the head. I might even have Mike Okuda's email on file. I wonder if there'd be any credit for the work I put into it.

I am glad that Mike and Denise Okuda are working on this. They do great work and this should turn out well. I will be looking forward to its release. :techman::techman::techman::techman:

Well I for one am glad you got a response back Davey...the fact that multiple Enterprises could be included in it or a single book dedicated to the JJ Enterprise doesn't matter to me. I'm just glad we're finally getting another book. I for one would be happy to see the Enterprise-E included since its my favorite ship.

I would like to see the Excalibur from Star Trek Online there too--its becoming my favorite starship design.

I wrote a message on Michael Okuda's wall a few weeks back about any involvement in the project and mentioned the Sep release date and he replied somewhat cryptically that he didn't know when the project was coming out but he'd seen stuff from it and that it looked really cool. I can try to go back and see if I can find it as I'm paraphrasing his response. When was that April thing supposed to be again?

I personally would prefer a book just about the 2009 edition NCC-1701, all 725 glorious meters of it and it's multiple warp cores, brewery and super hanger.

And maybe the USS Kelvin.

...and the fleet sent to Vulcan.

I'm bored of the old Trek ships. They've been tech manual'd to death over the decades. The new, bigger re-imagined Starfleet holds much more interest for me.

I think we're going to get the 2009 Star Trek movie Enterprise in depth but it would be cool if they did a few pages on the USS Kelvin as well. I don't so much care about the rest of Starfleet.

While the rest of us, who want nothing to do with that bloated monstrosity will patiently wait for manuals on the other ships.
We don't really have to wait. With the resources at hand these days fans are making their own stuff. And the quality of work can be just as good and "professional" looking as anything TPTB might get published.

Who fucking cares about the "official" stamp of approval? Some do. Others don't.

My TOS shuttlecraft drawings will likely never get anything other than some fan recognition. But with help from other like minded fans I was able to cobble something together that works, and likely better and more credible than what most of what comes out of the "official" grist mill.

I've seen fans around here create gorgeous and more credible looking work than most of what comes from TPTB. I've seen devoted fans put a lot of thought and care into very believable plans and layouts of how various Trek ships are likely arranged internally.

CRA, why the fuck should we care about some publication devoted to the nufauxprise monstrosity with it's phallic looking nacelles? How many people around here, including yourself, have created convincing layouts of the TOS E and other ships?

We don't need a stamp of approval.

Okay, I don't and shouldn't presume to speak for anyone else. So I'll just say I don't need them.
